Job Description:
H-E-B's Transportation Division supports distribution by transporting products from the warehouse to our retail stores. Our Transportation Partners ship an average 12,000 deliveries per week and travel over 73 million miles each year.
As a Yard Spotter, you'll work at Distribution Center Services (DCS) moving yard mules and trailers within H-E-B Retail Support Centers. Upon hire, you'll earn a Class A Commercial Driver - s License and complete mule and tractor training. Please note this position is not the Delivery Driver Trainee program used to train full time Drivers.
Once you're eligible, you'll become an Owner in the company, so we're looking for commitment, hard work, and focus on quality and Customer service. - 3+ years of driving experience
- documented proof of a good driving record (see below for details)
What is the work?
Transportation Operations:
- Spots trailers at dock doors throughout the Retail Support Center
- Transports merchandise throughout the Retail Support Center
What is your background?
- Minimum age of 21 years (mandatory)
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- No suspended or revoked driver licenses, permits, or privileges in any state / county (mandatory)
- Successful passing of Dept of Transportation (DOT) physical, DOT drug screen, background check, and verification of work history (required prior to job offer)
Do you have what it takes to be a fit as an H-E-B Yard Spotter?
- Knowledge of the English language (mandatory - according to Regulation 398.3 (c)(4), - Every driver shall be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to understand highway traffic signs and signals and directions given in English and to respond to official inquiries - )
- Familiarity with Section 2 of the Texas Commercial Motor Vehicle Drivers Handbook
- Advanced customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation physical and drug screen, and meet all DOT driver qualifications
- Ability to successfully complete all phases of the of the Spotter Trainee Program
- Ability to work weekends, nights, and holidays
- Ability to work with little or no supervision
