Job Description

InSpa is looking for a cosmetic chemist with an extensive background in the beauty industry; a true passion for skincare; a love of technology and a belief that ingredients matter. You will play a pivotal role in helping to rapidly scale the system as steadily add new products to this proven and ground-breaking recommendation system. This is initially a part-time position with potential for growth as desired.

Responsibilities:

  • Product research, review clinical studies, perform informed ingredient analysis.
  • Research new products, chemistry, to aid in innovation and driving new business opportunities.
  • Stay ahead of new technologies that may be opportunities for the company and its customers.
  • Understand consumer insights and help to identify unmet needs, product gaps, emerging brands.
  • Exhibit excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Display a sense of urgency and initiative with creativity and flexibility.
  • Perform other tasks as required under the direction of the CEO.

Qualifications / Certifications:

  • BS Degree in Chemistry or other related science.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience performing skincare ingredients analysis or similar research.
  • Extensive knowledge of the skincare industry.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles of cosmetic science.
  • Experience working with technical teams and software engineers is a plus, as well as having a natural affinity for database-type thinking.
  • Very comfortable working in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Highly organized.
  • Self-motivated; self-starter.
  • Disciplined, hard-working, deadline oriented.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and cooperation skills.
  • Problem solving/analytical skill sets and teamwork.
  • Willingness to take ownership and accountability to drive projects forward in a timely and efficient manner.
