The STEM/P-Tech Counselor will be expected to:

  • Supervises the STEM/P-TECH Academy program at C. E. King High School
  • Oversees the STEM/P-TECH students, staff, and scheduling for the academy with assistance from the Executive Director of Innovative Programs
  • Schedules and facilitates the STEM/P-TECH Academy Advisory Board meetings (4x yearly)
  • Monitors the STEM/P-TECH Blueprint in order to maintain all expectations to keep our TEA designation and meet Outcome-Based Measures
  • Works collaboratively with the Exec. Director of Innovative Programs to coordinate all activities and support for the STEM/P-TECH Academy students, teachers & parents
  • Works collaboratively with the industry partners, college liaison, and stem counselor to keep abreast of matters/concerns
  • Support TSIA testing for all STEM/P-TECH Academy students in order to prepare them for dual credit enrollment
  • Support project-based learning in the STEM/P-TECH Academy classrooms
  • Attend (CCRSM) College and Career Readiness School Models Summit 2x a year and 1X in the summer to get updates and build capacity in the area of College Readiness to support the students in the academy.
  • Serve as a counselor for the STEM academy of teachers and students
  • Participate in the development and evaluation of the STEM program; prior experience with implementing the comprehensive organization, activities, goals, and objectives of a STEM school preferred
  • Promote a positive, caring climate for learning
  • Participate in the development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members
  • Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable
  • Work with school faculty and staff, students, parents, and community to plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling programs the school assigned.
  • Counsel students to fully develop each student's academic, career, personal, and social abilities and address the needs of special populations students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree in guidance counseling

Valid Texas counseling certificate

Teacher Certification


Three (3) years of teaching experience


Works a 226-day calendar
