Job description

The Ottawa County Courthouse, under the supervision of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, has openings for part-time/as-needed Courthouse Security Personnel. ONLY THOSE APPLICANTS WHO COMPLETE AN EMPLOMENT APPLICATION WILL BE GIVEN CONSIDERATION. Resumes submitted without an application will NOT be considered! Must apply by 10/26/22 at 4pm.

This position is not in the bargaining unit. Starting wage is $18.64.

Candidates must be certified by OPOTA, including knowledge of firearms, First Aid/CPR, and Taser use.

Job includes:

1. Checking people and bags at Courthouse Entrance

2. General assistance to public and employees

3. Responding to door alarms at entrances and exits of exterior doors

4. Responding to emergency calls within the Courthouse

Selected candidates must:

1. Have high school diploma or GED

2. Have a clean criminal background check and drug screen

3. Be able to move freely about the property for regular patrols as well as emergency responses

4. Be willing to complete training in (a) use of metal detectors, magnetometers and X-ray machines, (b) Courthouse operations and (c) Sheriff’s Office standards of conduct, policies and procedures.

Employees will not work weekends, nights or holidays.
