The Credit Officer position is focused primarily on multi-family, industrial, retail, and office real estate with an emphasis on multi-family term debt lending. The position is a visible leadership role requiring line of business expertise, strong interpersonal skills, decisiveness, and the ability to prioritize and operate in a multi-tasked and geographically dispersed environment. The Credit Officer will objectively identify risk and proactively guide the development of protective and balanced credit structures to maintain portfolio quality and protect the bank's capital.

Credit Approval:

  • Review, approve, decline, or elevate to appropriate higher authority credit applications for new originations, renewals, or modifications of existing loans.
  • The role calls for a collaborative approach to achieving satisfactory credit solutions for customers as well as internal and external stakeholders

Portfolio Management:

  • Provides oversight of designated portfolio to ensure satisfactory maintenance of loan quality
  • Proactively identifies potential problem credits working collaboratively with relationship managers, portfolio managers, and/or loan workout specialists to restructure credits and/or minimize losses
  • Partner and collaborate with line of business counterparts to constructively achieve portfolio objectives
  • Provide leadership related to credit decisions, credit risk management, and portfolio management with an eye toward portfolio strategic objectives, credit policies, and all related administrative procedures
  • Ensure all credit delivery activities have been completed in a timely, efficient, and prudent manner while providing a collegial environment for the delivery of services and client experiences
  • Participate in the development of credit-related policies and procedures along with special projects as needed
  • Provide a leadership role in modeling and disseminating the bank's credit culture
  • Follow defined processes, procedures, and credit policies to accomplish all defined accountabilities

Qualifications

  • 5-10+ years in a Wholesale Credit, Commercial Lending, and or Work Out position with primary experience dealing with commercial real estate relationships, ideally with exposure greater than $15 million in a large bank environment.
  • 5 years or more experience in the commercial real estate sector.
  • Strong administrative, communication/interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and act independently in a multiple-task environment.
  • Some travel required in New York, New Jersey, and eastern Pennsylvania including Philadelphia.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree required

Hours & Work Schedule (3 days in the office, this is not a remote position)

  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday
