Job Summary and Qualifications

The CT technologist is responsible for performing a variety of complex specialized technical tasks utilizing radiation to assist with the detection of anatomical abnormalities.

Duties:


  • Knowledge of CT examinations and contrast media protocols
  • Prepares patient for procedure, explains procedure to patient. Monitors and reports changes in patient condition to appropriate healthcare providers
  • Basic knowledge of computers and PACS system equipment and related software
  • Obtains and documents accurate patient information on assessments and other forms
  • Knowledge of CT and accessory equipment operations to ensure patient and guest safety and image quality
  • Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy for optimum imaging
  • Demonstrates knowledge of patient positioning for optimum imaging
  • Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images, and ensures proper film identification on all images. Abides by Regulatory requirements, National Safety Goals, Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics
  • Technologist communicates procedure information to radiologist or other physician(s)
  • Evaluates quality of CT procedure and determines if additional imaging is required
  • Provides direct patient care to patients of all ages
  • Provides outstanding customer service skills at all times
  • Demonstrates ethical and professional conduct (attitude and behavior). Maintains licensure in a timely manner
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and patient privacy
  • Technologist contributes to the efficient operation of the department, ensuring the quality of continuity of patient care and safety
  • Consistently performs radiation safety measures
  • Assist in mentoring new team members or students

  • Performs other related duties as required

What qualifications you will need:

I. Minimum Requirements:

Education: A.S. in Radiological Health Sciences, Graduate of an AMH accredited school of Radiological Technology and/or completion of a formal CT program from an accredited program

Licensure/Certifications: Certification in CT Scan required or obtained within 6 months of employment dateor end of cross training period.Registration by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists and licensed by the Kentucky State Department of Health.

Experience: One year of CT Scan experience (preferred). BLS required.

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist
  • Registered Radiographer (ARRT)
  • Associate Degree
  • Basic X-Ray Machine Operator, or State Registered Radiologic Technician
