The BDS Business Development (BD) Customer & Market Engagement function is responsible for delivering unparalleled customer experiences that strengthen relationships, deliver orders for good business, and advance the global brand of The Boeing Company.

As a leader of the BD Customer & Market Engagement team, you will provide management, guidance and support in strategic event planning and marketing support to various BDS programs, both domestic and international. The position is focused on providing leadership for BDS – Space, Intelligence & Weapons Division. This position will be based in Arlington, VA.

The position will require additional travel to the various Space and Weapons sites in Southern California Huntsville, AL and Titusville, FL. You will report to the Executive Director of Customer & Market Engagement for Boeing Defense, Space, and Security.

As the Customer Engagement Manager, you will have up to six direct reports located in Southern California, Huntsville, Alabama and Titusville, Florida. The role requires leading the planning, coordination and execution of complex customer visits, special events, launches, conferences, product demonstrations, site tours, and sponsored functions for U.S. Department of Defense and international customers, Boeing and industry partner executives, elected officials, and community, local government, and supplier activities.

Demonstrated leadership, ability to brief BDS LT members with ease, event project management, marketing, communications and team building skills are key to this role. Other essential skills and competencies are business knowledge, flexibility, attention to detail, decisiveness, forward thinking and a positive approach to change and innovation. The role requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and event budget targets, create and maintain effective working relationships and customer partnerships.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages event planning meetings and communications with business development/marketing/sales. Anticipates requirements and makes recommendations (e.g., date, geographic location, venue, participants/products and budget).

  • Manages a team of event planners and jumps in to support visits and events as required. Manages workload for the team.

  • Plans and coordinates multiple complex customer visits and events, product demonstrations and evaluations, utilizing extensive knowledge of U.S. and foreign government regulations, international cultures and customs, company policies and procedures based on strategic business objectives.

  • Organizes and manages a multi-disciplined team (e.g., facilities, marketing/communications, graphics, security and transportation, etc.) to implement the plan.

  • Continuously collect, integrate and proactively disseminate information to all stakeholders to ensure adherence to the plan. Increased exposure to and support of senior executives to include briefings, sharing the plan and develop the executive event schedule.

  • Based on customer requirements (e.g., budget, group size, format, site accessibility, aesthetics and A/V requirements, etc.), research and evaluate potential venues (including site inspections) and make recommendations of preferred venue or site to customer.

  • Strengthens internal and external customer and supplier network.

  • Provides direction to others for successful completion of tasks.

  • Implements logistics for complex and/or highly visible visits/events in accordance with company policies and procedures, branding compliance, business courtesies, protocol and U.S. and foreign government guidelines.

  • Applies extensive knowledge of customer's customs and cultures in all aspects of the visit/event, provides sound advice and recommendations and takes action.

  • Manages the team in administering the agreed to plan and all logistical aspects of the visit/event.

  • Provides on-site management of resources for visit/event.

  • Facilitates process improvements based on in-depth analysis of feedback.

  • Provides guidance to the work group on process improvement matters.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 10+ years of experience assembling and delivering key briefings both to senior leadership as well as through the organization

  • 10+ years of experience in planning, organizing, facilitating and/or executing large scale meetings and events

  • 10+ years of experience with managing multiple projects concurrently

  • 10+ years of experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with senior executives, customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners

  • 1+ year of experience leading geographically dispersed teams

  • Able to travel both domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Active U.S. Security Clearance

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Travel:

Position may require travel up to 25% of the time.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $123,250 – $166,750
