APS has partnered with a reputable and successful services company seeking a talented Customer Service Representative to join the team. As the Customer Service Representative, you will perform a variety of customer service duties in support of utility service activities involving requests for service, handling customer complaints, utility billing, providing information and maintaining related financial records. The Customer Service Rep. is responsible for providing effective customer service for all customers by utilizing excellent, in-depth knowledge of company services, be a problem-solver and ensure all parties are happy with the outcome. As the Customer Service Rep, you will interact with other internal departments to achieve balance of capacity while achieving high service levels. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process service orders for services including customer turn-ons and turn-offs, container deliveries, new billing accounts and discontinuance of accounts.
  • Provide assistance to citizens with inquiries and complaints; answer customer complaints regarding charges, delinquencies and refunds; identify customer service problems and conduct research; prepare work orders for field maintenance staff; communicate results to customer.
  • Act as a receptionist; answer the telephone and wait on the general public, providing general information on departmental and company policies and procedures as required; refer calls to appropriate department personnel.
  • Perform a variety of general clerical duties including typing and proofreading a variety of documents; maintaining files and records; inventory and maintaining office supplies
  • Operate a variety of office machines including a personal computer; input and retrieve data.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned by supervisor.

  • Ability to:
  • understand and carry out oral and written instructions; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • respond tactfully and courteously when answering questions and handling complaints
  • establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Knowledge of:
  • basic customer relations techniques
  • modern office practices
  • procedures and equipment including a personal computer
  • principles and procedures of record keeping
  • English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation; and basic mathematical principles.
  • Ability to:
  • learn and correctly interpret and apply the methods, policies and procedures of the assigned area of responsibility
  • maintain a variety of financial records and files
  • accurately and rapidly perform mathematical calculations
  • operate a calculator, personal computer and other office equipment
  • perform procedures in an organized and accurate manner
  • accurately count, record and balance assigned transactions.
  • Must have good organizational and time management skills with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to prioritize fluctuating workload with a strong ability to multitask.
  • Must maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

  • Customer service: 2 years (Required)
