Southern Illinois University Carbondale Center for Workforce Development (SIUC CWD), located in Chatham, Illinois, seeks a Customer Service Representative (CSR) to process and facilitate the progression of administrative paperwork to meet project deliverables and fiscal deadlines. Work hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm. This position offers hybrid work (in-person and remote).

Function: The Customer Service Representative serves as a liaison between SIU campus offices and external agencies, such as partners, vendors, and sponsors. The CSR will handle all clerical functions for the CWD. Responsibilities include working with vendors to initiate purchase orders; pulling invoices to make vendor payments; preparing performance and financial reports; entering payroll; tracking inventory; ordering supplies; posting job openings, and scheduling interviews.

Salary: $2,904 per month with an excellent benefits package including health, vision, dental insurance, and retirement plan options. Paid holidays, accruable vacation, and sick benefits.

Preferred Qualifications: Ideal candidate has strong time management, organization, attention to detail, and communication (verbal/written) skills with the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), OneDrive, and Adobe is essential.

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Any one or combination totaling 3 years (36 months) from the following categories:

a. college coursework in business administration, communications, public relations, or closely related field as measured by:

• 30 semester hours = 12 months
• Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) = 18 months
• 90 semester hours = 24 months
• Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) = 36 months

b. work experience in customer service, public relations, office administration, business and financial operations, healthcare administration, or other closely related experience

CWD develops advanced online solutions and implements customized programs in collaboration with state agencies and organizations in the public and private sectors.
