SUMMARY:
Responsible for developing analytical capabilities and models to respond to the information needs of Carter Bank & Trust’s business units. This role will provide greater insight into Carter Bank & Trust’s customer, profitability, marketing efforts, probability, and risk management. Key duties for this role will be to help design and build the data infrastructure necessary to support the implementation of Fiserv iVue (IBM Cognos) in conjunction with the implementation of a new core – Fiserv DNA; as well as responsibility for systems administration, data architecture, reporting design & execution, and data controls. We need someone who is extremely intellectually curious and has a proven ability to manage large data sets and help build advanced analytical solutions in an operations environment. This position requires working collaboratively amongst other team members and across the broader organization. A big part of the role is to be able to ask open-ended questions, identify issues, explore new ideas, and choose appropriate techniques for solving a given problem. Data analyst responsibilities include conducting full lifecycle analysis to include requirements, activities and design. Data analysts will develop analysis and reporting capabilities. They will also monitor performance and quality control plans to identify improvements

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Establish and maintain foundational data
  • Design and build the data infrastructure necessary to support the implementation of Fiserv iVue in conjunction with the implementation of a new core – Fiserv DNA
  • Responsibility for systems administration, data architecture, reporting design & execution, and data controls.
  • Maintain and manage reporting platforms, ensuring reports are developed and distributed on time
  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems
  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities




JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalence required
  • Must have at least 3-5 years of database experience with advanced SAS and SQL skills; experience researching and manipulating complex and large data sets
  • Extensive experience building superior analytical and reporting tools and dashboards using data visualization, such as Tableau or Qlikview
  • Analytical thinker with superior data analysis skills; synthesizing information across multiple platforms, systems, and organizations
  • Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • High level of attention to detail, with strong problem solving & organizational skills
  • Must be able to operate in a self-directed manner with little direction; must have a strong desire to take the initiative to deliver superior results
  • Must have a high degree of attention to detail, specifically in ensuring all reports and underlying data are accurate
  • Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced environment
  • Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Complete all required compliance training by established deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending and stooping required
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer
