We are excited for you to apply to our Data Engineer position located in East Lansing, MI. This position designs, implements and supports data warehousing and data management solutions. Responsible for verifying accuracy of data and maintaining and supporting the data warehouse. Designs and builds relational databases for data storage or processing. Develops designs for warehouse implementation, data acquisition, and archive recovery. May evaluate new data sources for adherence to the organization's quality standards and ease of integration. Designs and implements complex reports from data warehouse and other data sources.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and enhances the enterprise business intelligence platform to support business reporting and analytical requirements utilizing SSRS and PowerBI.
  • Builds, manages and monitors the ETL process for BI applications. Liaises with other team members in Finance and IT to optimize data and information usage. Assists in performance tuning of database warehouse.
  • Monitor the ETL process to ensure performance of the system and security of the data.
  • Ensures the use of demonstrated best practices for Business Intelligence solutions.
  • Ensure creation of quality design documentations of all BI initiatives to departmental, corporate and industry standards.
  • Contribute and assist in the development, deployment and automation of highly complex reporting through BI application.
  • Participate in user requirement gathering, leading the prototype for all BI initiatives.
  • Keep abreast of technology and innovation in all relevant areas.
  • Coordinate with IT to implement updates, upgrades and enhancements to the data warehouse and other BI applications.
  • Ability to work with on premise or cloud environments.

Position Requirements...

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Finance or related majors preferred.
  • 1+ years’ experience with complex data architecture and data management assignments, including data analysis and design, master data management, database administration, data security management, metadata management, data warehousing, business intelligence, and data quality improvement required.
  • MS BI certification preferred.
  • Must be proficient in computer technology, Microsoft applications and Microsoft BI Platform
  • Knowledge of data management and data architecture functions, including physical database design, data migration, and relational database management system; data modeling, and metadata management, tools, and processes.
  • SQL Server, SSRS and PowerBI experience is required.
  • Experience transitioning from on-prem to the cloud would be a plus.
