Basic Function
HF Sinclair in Dallas, TX is seeking a Data Engineer - Snowflake in which the Data Engineer will be responsible for supporting the company’s routine application systems and reporting environments while working with key users to improve business processes.
Job Duties
(functions considered essential as defined by ADA)
Helps define the technical vision, strategy and plan for modeling layers and security/governance of the enterprise data lake & data warehouse platform to enable the development of high value, analytic solutions aligned with business needs- Provides expert level support for the Snowflake system, related ETL/ELT tools and reporting platforms including configuration and enhancement requests from the user community
- Provides support for end to end process, from extraction to end-user reporting and performing environment analysis and tuning
- Provides support for creation of Data pipelines for analytics and reporting needs from various SAP modules including configuration and enhancement requests from the user community and company management.
- Defines data load strategy, hourly/daily to from various source systems promptly resolves any issues with data loads
- Implements configuration changes, redesigns, new releases and updates to the systems environment in an effort to optimize the use of Information Technology.
- Designs interfaces, processes, reports, enhancements (including custom programs), and conversions for assigned complex and large scale application systems and reporting environments to meet business requirements.
- Designs and perform quality assurance testing and perform unit and integration testing.
- Participates in IT projects that are implementing new business applications, or interfacing with current ERP system or other business applications.
- Analyzes and redesign, if needed, process and configuration issues as they occur in the ERP Production system.
- Supports development of end-user security authorizations by the end-user security authorization administration group.
- Facilitates meetings, conduct and lead presentations and/or training sessions with end-users, standardizing training and providing detailed documentation as needed.
- Provides clear, concise weekly status reports for assigned team’s issues and projects.
- Provides support role to subsequent phases of ERP implementation and work on special projects as needed.
- Supports and oversee integration points between assigned area of responsibility and other modules.
- Leads a team on special projects or play a lead technical role as assigned. Consults with colleagues, management, and business team members on requirements, problems, project status, and issues
- Understands and works within corporate IT governance policies
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their manager, as determined from time to time are the supervisor’s sole and complete discretion.
Experience
A minimum of 8 years of Data Platforms experience and two years on Modern Snowflake Data Platform is required.
8+ years of experience in analytics or/and data engineering role.- Hands on experience in developing real-time data modeling, pipelines, and data engineering projects
- Proficient in SQL, strong experience is one of these programming languages - Python, Scala, Java, Go etc
- Experience with DBMS, Data Warehouses, designing and implementing complex data transformations to build real-time data pipelines and provide the business users with the most accurate, actionable data to make decisions.
- Experience with Snowflake Cloud Data Warehouse platforms.
- Experience with Extract and Load platforms like Qlik Replicate, Fivetran.
- Experience using machine learning, text-mining to extract insights from structured and unstructured data to assist in predictive analytics.
- Experience creating of interactive data visualization with any the following platforms – Power BI, Tableau, SAC.
- Experience designing highly scalable ETL processes with complex data transformations, data formats including error handling and monitoring.
- Familiarity with DevOps best practices and automation of documentation, testing, build, deployment, configuration, and monitoring
- Exposure working with SAP ECC data.
- Strong familiarity with any of the Cloud Platforms - AWS, Azure, GCP. Certifications are a big plus.
- Bachelors or higher degree in quantitative field (e.g Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field)
- Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
- Communicates with colleagues, management, and business team members on requirements, problems, project status, and issues
- Delivers system solutions to business problems in a timely manner
- Understands and work within corporate IT governance practices
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
SAP IS-OIL and Oil and Gas industry experience is preferred (Downstream/Refining areas). The ideal candidate will have experience supporting and implementing reporting and analytics solutions including Snowflake, Power BI, SAP ECC and other DBMS and cloud based applications.
Education Level
A minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent work experience is required.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility
May act as team lead on large projects.
Work Conditions
Office based with travel up to 25% of time by land or air is required. Work conditions may require working petroleum refinery environment, warehouse and plant environments occasionally. Subject to varying road and weather conditions. Occasional long hours, as well as nights and weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements
Job conditions require sitting, talking, hearing, making visual inspections, and making precise hand and finger movements. Job conditions may require standing, walking, and wearing personal protective equipment (beards not permitted)
