Dean of Students for the Class of 2027 (incoming freshman class dean). Please see the job description and posting attached. The hiring protocol is as follows: the posting will have a deadline for applications on March 17, 2023; there will be an interview committee which will interview all viable candidates and make a recommendation to the Principal; the Principal will make the final recommendation to the President for appointment. Located in the heart of Providence for over 144 years, La Salle Academy serves a student body of 1460 students. The vast majority of students live in one of the thirty-nine cities and towns of Rhode Island, southeastern Massachusetts, or northeastern Connecticut.A candidate for the position of Dean of the Class of 2027 must have teaching and secondary school experience.

Candidates must model strong leadership skills and have experience at the secondary level working with adolescent students.Start date: Assume responsibilities on July 1, 2023 Salary/Benefits: Competitive salary with full benefitsJob Description: Responsibilities include: Please see Faculty/Staff Handbook Pp.50-51 Office of the Deans of StudentsEach Dean will be responsible for a class of students. 1. General Areas of Responsibility a. Student Life(1) Serves as liaison with parents.(2) Serves as class moderator and initiates activities which promote class spirit.(3) Insures adequate supervision at school social events.(4) In conjunction with the school nurse, monitors health files and issues medical excuses from physical education.(5) Makes referrals to Counselors, Campus Ministry, Clinical Social Worker/Therapist.(6) Reviews student discipline and academic files at the end of each semester.(7) Reviews the Student Handbook at the end of the year.(8) Orients new students.(9) Coordinates the management of lockers and ID cards for students in his or her year.

b. Academics(1) Monitors students' grades, as well as progress and deficiency reports.(2) Initiates and supervises assembly programs.(3) Initiates and maintains communication with parents regarding academic issues c. Discipline(1) Supervises students as they enter and leave the building, during lunches, and at specified extracurricular activities, as well as during the school day.(2) Monitors daily and class attendance.(3) Deals with infractions of school rules.(4) Monitors students under disciplinary probation.(5) Holds regularly scheduled detentions.(6) Initiates and maintains communication with parents regarding discipline issues.(7) Serves on the Student Services Council with school and college counselors, Academic Resource Center Personnel and campus ministers, under the coordination of the Vice Principal of Student Life. d.

Record-Keeping(1) Regularly reviews and maintains files which contain attendance records, medical information, and academic and disciplinary reports. These files also include memos regarding parental contract, referrals, and teacher conferences.(2) Monitors the class budget.(3) Provides summary reports at the end of the year. e. Faculty(1) Observes classes when requested by the Vice Principal of Academics, Vice Principal of Student Life, or C.O.O.(2) Contributes to summative evaluation meetings.

2. Additional Responsibilitiesa. Oversees the planning of class activities.b. Coordinates town and city buses.c.

Monitors the bell system.d. Supervises fire drills, lock down drills, and evacuation drills.e. Sets up the locker system.f. Supervises the student parking lot (and attendant).g.

Supervises use of the public address system and makes morning and afternoon announcements.
