Dental Lab Manager
$100K - $135K per year
We are a family owned, local Dental Laboratory seeking a detail-oriented team player to join our team. Our business has spent the last 50+ years building excellent relationships with our customers, so maintaining and developing doctor relationships is a major key to our success. We are looking for a strategic and tactical leader who is able to focus on profitable growth and day to day operations of the lab, as well as a hands-on leader that is not afraid to get in the trenches, perform production work when needed, QC cases to assist workflow, and ensure customers are taken care of. Our ideal candidate will motivate and develop the existing team, identify training needs, and facilitate growth. The Lab Manager will act as the face of the Dental Lab, visiting offices and meeting with doctors as needed.
Duties include but are not limited to:
-Monitors and coordinates functions such as operations, manufacturing, and sales
-Determines quality standards
-Ensures productivity and quality goals are met by monitoring production floor, problem solving production issues, and motivating employees
-Monitors quality issues and works closely with Quality Control Specialist to address all issues regarding quality standards
-Ensure directed remake goal is achieved (<2% external)
-Develops solutions to business inefficiencies/problems
-Makes recommendations about equipment use, maintenance, modification and procurement
-Oversees work distribution, quality control, and department leads
-Follows up on specific requests made by doctors on specific cases, as necessary
-Provides training and additional educational instruction to technicians
-Assists staff to resolve complex or out of policy operation problems
-Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures
-Acts as on-site resource for employees for any HR questions or issues
-Handles all terminations and/or on-site employee discipline issues in conjunction with Direct Supervisor and Office Manager
-Partners with Office Manager to set appropriate pay and staffing levels as well as employee relations matters
-Reviews and approves requests for vacation as well as any necessary overtime for employees in conjunction with Office Manager
-Oversees the review process for the employees of the company and makes any necessary salary adjustment recommendations for approval to the Direct Supervisor. Reviews must be conducted at 30 days and 90 days after hire date, and then annually thereafter.
-Reviews and makes recommendations for adjusting the schedule when needed
-Develops new policies and procedures as necessary to maximize workflow
-Enforces adherence to Company policies and procedures
-Ensures all direct reports understand the performance standards of their departments and have a clear understanding of their own individual performance
-Performs other related duties and projects as business needs require, at direction of management
Education and Experience
-Minimum five (5) years of experience in dental industry as a dental technician or Certified Dental Technician
-Minimum two (2) years of managerial experience
-GED required
