Twelfth Judicial District, Colorado - County Court Prosecutor

Deputy District Attorneys in the San Luis Valley gain immediate courtroom experience under the supervision and training of career prosecutors with statewide reputations for excellence in the field. The Office is also offering a two month housing stipend upon acceptance of an offer of employment.

Duties of a deputy district attorney may include:

• Preparing and trying cases involving felony, misdemeanor and juvenile crimes.
• Reviewing criminal investigations and evaluates criminal cases for appropriate charges, possible plea dispositions, and likelihood of success at trial
• Collaborating with law enforcement agencies in the San Luis Valley to provide assistance with legal questions, warrant reviews and investigations.
• Presenting evidence, litigating legal issues including oral argument and written presentation, conducting jury selection, preparing jury instructions, presenting closing arguments, and
• Arguing for appropriate sentences
• Representing the Office’s mission of professionalism, transparency and ethical standards to the San Luis Valley community
• Periodically serving on-call to provide legal advice to law enforcement agencies and answering immediate questions from the general public
• Attending crime scenes involving serious felonies or other crimes when requested by law enforcement agencies
• Performing related work, as required
• May be reassigned in emergency situations

Salaries starting at $75,000 per annum and are negotiable depending upon experience level.
