As the Design Engineer- Highway, you will be responsible for design of roads, transportation project for municipal, county, and state roads.

Responsibilities:

  • The Design Engineer is a graduate civil, structural, or environmental engineer and has passed the Engineer-in-Training exam within the first 4 years of employment
  • The facets of design include horizontal and vertical alignment calculations, superelevation design, grading, guide rail design, and pavement design, drainage design consisting of both hydraulic and hydrologic design of pipes, ditches, and streams traffic studies
  • Traffic signal design, and recreation projects varying from baseball, football, and soccer fields, both natural and artificial turf, to parks and playgrounds.
  • Utilize AutoCAD as a tool for design and will work under the direct supervision of a professional engineer.
  • In addition to design experience in the office the Design Engineer will also be required to spend several weeks each year on construction sites performing construction inspection of various types of transportation projects, typically at the municipal or county level.
  • The Design Engineer will assist entry level engineers become proficient in AutoCAD and will work independently on small projects and collaboratively on large projects.
  • Adhere to internal standards, policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • 0 and 4 years of experience.
  • ASCE classification is Grade II/III
