Introduction to AM General

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:

  • BSME or equivalent design experience.
  • Min. 3 years’ experience in 3D CAD modeling and detailing.
  • Min. 1 years’ experience in component design and basic packaging.
  • Min. 2 years’ experience with CREO, parametric modeling and detailing

(CREO Parametric 5.0 or newer, CREO 7 or 8 preferred).

  • Knowledge with CREO Piping & Cabling.
  • Knowledge with CREO Family Tables.
  • Knowledge of other CAD systems is desirable (NX preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Teamcenter Visualization.
  • Working knowledge of PDM/PLM systems, Teamcenter, Windchill, SAP.
  • Familiarity GD&T and descriptive geometry, with ability to generate 2D drawings accordingly, with assistance provided by checkers as needed.
  • Familiarity with military specifications and standards, especially MIL-STD-31,000.
  • Basic skills with Microsoft Office software.
  • Involved in creating new designs and following them throughout their lifecycle (prototype, production release, change management).
  • Apply AM General Standards and Procedures as outlined per program requirements.
  • The candidate shall have the capability to generate robust and innovative designs that are optimized with regards to manufacturability, weight, and cost
  • Will be expected to create 3D parametric models using best practice modeling techniques that allow for easy editing by other designers in the future.
  • Understanding of tolerance stack-ups relating to form/fit/function. Will assist with tolerance investigations and perform non-critical stack-ups as needed
  • Regularly review designs for potential issues and develop feasible solutions to resolve issues prior to releasing parts for procurement.

PHYSICAL EFFORT

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and or move objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to physically support a manufacturing environment through evaluation of on the floor issue resolution and

problem solving.

  • Extended hours to support increased production may be required on occasion

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routine uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and copy, fax and scanning machines.

Travel Requirements:

Occasional Travel may be required.
