Position Summary:
The principle function of a Desktop Specialist I is to provide exceptional desk side support to CFVHS physicians personnel and guests who utilize a computer in the performance of their duties. These services include but are not limited to issues related to information technology and may include duties in one or more of the technical areas specified hardware, software, network, and support services for departments throughout the hospital system. All Support Services staff promotes a positive and professional image of the Information Service & Technology Department and of Cape Fear Valley Health System.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
One year of related experience. Comptia A+ certification preferred. Must be proficient and knowledgeable in Windows Operating System. Must demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot hardware and software related issues. Network/infrastructure knowledge preferred. Good working knowledge of computer software, hardware and networks. Ability to work under time pressures while maintaining a customer service attitude. Self-motivated with attention to detail. Organizes workload, sets priorities and works within deadlines. Effective oral communication, writing skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate over the phone. Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.

Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.

Hearing and verbal ability to interact professionally with users, staff, managers and vendors. Visual acuity to deal with monitors and printouts and manual dexterity to use standard keyboards is both required. Ability to respond to remote locations and routinely lift up to 50lbs is required.
