LOCATION

DOROT is headquartered on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and the team works on a hybrid schedule. The Development Assistant for the Development Team will be expected to work in the office 4 days per week and as needed.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Development Assistant will provide support for DOROT’s Chief Advancement Officer, the Director of Development, and the Senior Development Associate, administering the department’s day-to-day logistics. This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic candidate who is interested in entering the field of non-profit development.


WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Assist donors in making gifts over the phone.
  • Support donors in resolving donation issues, i.e., following up about missing credit card information.
  • Review and code donation checks, manage record keeping and generate reports as requested.
  • Maintain donor records; perform daily data entry, and execute weekly mail merges to generate donor acknowledgements.
  • Create changes to donor records including entering new donors and updating address changes.
  • Maintain and track information of monthly Sustaining Donor members and matching gifts.
  • Assist with invitation mailing process for our fundraising events, guest lists and track responses in our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool.
  • Schedule meetings and calls for Chief Advancement Officer and Director of Development.
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations for Board and Committee meetings.
  • Plan internal department lunches and other events.
  • Other projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 1 year of administrative experience in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, preferably at a nonprofit agency
  • Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in maintaining confidentiality
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills, including calendar management
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfortable working with new technology
  • Working knowledge of donor management CRM (e.g., Raiser’s Edge) is strongly preferred, but not required.

Candidates can expect a base salary between $42,000 and $52,000 commensurate with experience.
