Founded in 1977, CASA is the official 501c3 domestic violence center based in Pinellas County, FL. We operate the area’s 24-hour hotline and emergency shelter; non-residential programs, such as support groups, economic empowerment and legal advocacy; Child Protective Investigative Team support; community and corporate training; and the CASA Peacemakers anti-bullying and healthy relationship school curriculum.
Position Title: Development Officer
Reports to: Director of Advancement
FLSA: Full Time-Exempt
MAJOR FUNCTION: This role is responsible for managing organization’s annual fundraising and donor recognition, and carrying out the administration of the donor database. The Development Officer works collaboratively to steward relationships with new and existing donors, and provides support to the CEO on recognizing major gift donors. This role is accountable for achieving specific funding goals for individual giving and third-party events.
All employees of Community Action Stops Abuse are considered “essential” and as such may be required to remain onsite and/or required to assist during emergencies and other critical times.
Essential Duties
- Produce and manage donor correspondence, including annual campaign appeals
- Maintain detailed records of all donor contact, history and moves management; ensures timely and personal appreciation and recognition is completed
- Develop and maintain a successful monthly giving program
- Develop a planned giving program utilizing CASA’s planned giving platform
- Manages the donor recognition and stewardship program, including updating organization policies and procedures
- Supports the CEO with recognition and stewardship for major gift donors
- Provide fundraising reports to Senior Director of Advancement.
- Work with the marketing team to develop and enhance promotion and recognition tools aimed at individual donors (website, print pieces, email content, story/pic/video library, frames)
- Cultivate and serve as main contact for organizations and community groups that are hosting third-party fundraising activities that benefit CASA.
- Enhance CASA’s participation in the community through local networking groups and cultivate these relationships into revenue opportunities.
- Follow up on events and community activities to cultivate CASA’s relationship with potential donors.
- Work closely with the Special Events & Marketing Manager to cultivate past and current sponsors to enhance their relationships with CASA.
- Provide information and data for donors and events to the CEO and Senior Director of Advancement.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- College degree in a related area preferred or relevant years of work experience required.
- Ability to establish best practices and operational efficiency.
- Excellent writing/editing and verbal communications skills.
- Familiarity with fundraising practices including IRS regulations related to gift acceptance, valuation, and 501c3 operational requirements is preferred.
- Relationship builder with the flexibility and finesse to “manage by influence”.
- High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as unifying force and to position communication discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels.
- Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters.
- Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives.
- Ability to use discretion in working with confidential and sensitive data.
- Ability to work evenings and /or weekends as necessary.
- Possess a valid Florida State Driver’s License to be verified annually.
- Personal transportation and auto insurance.
- Ability and willingness to drive CASA vehicles.
- Agree to a background check.
- Possess the ability to climb stairs and lift 50 pounds.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $54,000.00 per year
