DIESEL TRUCK MECHANIC - Night Shift Shop Foreman


Cowden Gravel & Ready Mix specializes in aggregate and concrete deliveries. With a fast paced, busy, on site shop, our mechanics work on all aspects of truck repairs and maintenance. We employ mechanics of all levels of experience. Our Bellingham shop on Cedarville Road has an opening for a Night Shift Shop Foreman. This Diesel Truck Service Mechanic position will work swing shift hours M-F, 3pm – 11:30pm with overtime available. 40-60 hours a week, overtime is paid after 40. Our swing shift mechanics primarily perform routine services and maintenance on our dump trucks and mixer trucks. The ideal candidate for this position will have foreman/lead experience along with diesel truck shop experience, especially with brake replacements, greasing, and vehicle servicing. JOB DUTIES OVERVIEW for Night shift (DIESEL TRUCK SERVICE MECHANIC)

  • Primarily perform routine services and maintenance (lube, oil change, 6/12/36 month services) typically completed on night shift.
  • Perform vehicle inspections compliant with DOT regulations and complete corresponding paperwork
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues with accuracy and in a timely manner
  • Develop repair plan to ensure a complete, safe and timely repair
  • Perform mechanical repairs
  • Navigate electronic Parts System Database to locate and bill parts according to unit in repair
  • Complete parts order request forms to include judgement calls on tagging out units
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area
  • Must always be safety conscious, especially when using powered equipment, maneuvering equipment/vehicles, must warn others before performing repairs that will include loud noise, sparks or fumes. Wear eye and ear protection as required.
  • Complete tasks as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to read and create work orders in English
  • Job specific experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of machines/tools used for diesel vehicle repair and maintenance
  • Trade school training (preferred)
  • CDL (a plus)
  • Welding skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Negative pre-employment drug screen
  • Eligibility to work in the US
  • Criminal Background screening conducted

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Competitive wages based on experience and qualifications. Base Hourly Rate Range: $30-$40 per hour PLUS benefits
  • $5/hour Shift differential pay (additional wage for working swing/night shift) (total wage range with differential pay is $35-$45/hr)
  • Overtime Pay after 40 hours/week
  • Full time (40-60 hrs/wk), Mon-Fri
