SCOPE OF POSITION: Provide supervision, support, and motivation for Dining Hall Service and Support staff; ensuring efficient operation and cleanliness of the dining hall and dish room. Lead counts and maintain records for Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum High School Graduate or equivalent required.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
- Hold a current Food Handlers Permit.
- 2 seasons of summer camp experience or 1 year in equivalent work required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Desire to work with youth.
- Ability to supervise and provide guidance to staff and campers.
- Ability to diffuse stressful situations with staff and campers.
- Be a Christian with a strong, demonstrative commitment to following Jesus Christ, and biblical principles, who is enthusiastic, energetic and creative in spiritual leadership.

- Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer.
- Ability to access and produce information from a computer.
- Ability to teach and lead a number of activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise the Dining Hall and Service Support staff in their duties in the operation of the dining hall and dish room.
- Coordinate staff to assist on serving line.
- Lead in the operation and efficient workflow of the dish room.
- Coordinate daily and weekly cleaning of the dining hall, bathrooms, and dish room.
- Plan and implement a rotation schedule for wait staff between the dining hall and dish room.
- Perform daily Summer Food Service Program counts at each meal.
- Assist in any area of kitchen or dining hall, as requested by the Food Service Manager.
- Assist to unload, move, and store any dining hall, kitchen, food, or cleaning supplies.
- Create an inviting and thematic experience in the dining hall for campers and staff.
- Work with the program team to implement fun and exciting programming for the dining hall and meal services.
- Provide support, motivation, and spiritual leadership for staff assigned to the Dining Hall Service and Support.
General Duties:
- Foster and nurture Christian faith and discipleship in visible, fruitful ways to campers
- Attend and participate in programs and spiritual activities.
- Enforce respect for personal property, camp equipment and facilities.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all staff, volunteers and campers.
- Enforce adherence to camp and Salvation Army policies and procedures.
- Ensure and provide supervision and physical/emotional safety for campers and staff.
- Participate and/or assist in all summer camp programs as required e.g., chapel, staff meetings, campfire, camp wide games, night-watch, free-time, electives, rise and shine duty, etc.
- Ensure and assist in the cleanliness of cabins and outside areas.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Youth Program Specialist, Divisional Youth Secretaries and/or Camp Administrator
- May be required to serve as Break Day Supervisor at times during the season.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, hike and twist on a continuous basis for up to 15-20 minutes or prolonged periods at a time.
- Ability to grasp, push, pull objects, such as files, file cabinets drawers, and reach overhead.
- Ability to lift to 25 lbs.
- Physical ability to respond to a variety of situations; must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- There may be phone and in-person contact with others from diverse backgrounds who may be angry, hostile, confused or frustrated.
- May be required to work in all areas of camp including, but not limited to, the kitchen, dish room, laundry facility and grounds.

MISCELLANEOUS:
The Salvation Army does have a dress code. This will be shared with you at the time of employment.
The candidate chosen for this position will be required to pass a motor vehicle record check. They must have a valid drivers license and acceptable driving record.
