Must be available at least 5 shifts in 2 weeks qualify for part-time work.

Job Title: Wait Staff
Report to: Dining Service Manager
Department: Dining Services
Main Functions:
To meet the Home's high standards of service, the employee is to provide a safe, sanitary environment and prompt, courteous service to residents in the Dining Room.
Job Functions:
1. Set up tables for meals.
2. Transport prepared foods and supplies needed for each meal from Dietary Department to the Butler’s Pantry before each meal.
3. Serves residents their meals in accordance with policy of the Home and observing all applicable regulations.
4. Observes all residents to determine if there is enough food and replenishes or provides substitutes as needed.
5. Assists any resident needing help to dish up or cut up food.
6. Observe residents on special diets to insure compliance with those diets.
7. Observe residents to determine that they are eating and that no one is choking. If either problem is observed it is to be reported immediately to the charge person.
8. Is present when residents enter and leave the Dining Room to prevent any injuries.
9. Clears tables, prepares dishes for, and washes dishes in dishwasher.
10. Clean (vacuum, wash, dust) Dining Room and Butler’s Pantry completely.
11. Returns all leftovers to kitchen for proper disposal.
12. Signal residents when it is time to enter the Dining Room.
13. Observes and notifies Dining Service Manager and Charge Person of any food dislike/likes or eating problems of residents.
14. Coordinates with Cooks to assure adequate portions for guests.
15. Cleans (vacuum, wash, dust) common areas on the first floor, living room and library.
16. Performs other tasks as assigned.
Associated Responsibilities
1. Accept direction from the Administrator and Dining Service Manager regarding task assignments and procedures.
2. Keep the Administrator informed in a timely manner of any abnormal conditions relative to equipment and the buildings (i.e. broken or defective equipment).
3. In the case of a resident emergency, to inform the Administrator immediately.
4. Demonstrate a willingness to cooperate fully with other employees such that each employee may perform his/her tasks more efficiently.
5. Must attend mandated In Service classes and those required by N.Y.S.D.O.H. Regulations or Home Policy.

High School Student, Graduate, or GED
Satisfactorily complete pre-employment and annual physical
Experience
Experience with elderly helpful
Contacts
Frequent contact with residents, personal care staff, other personnel and guests of residents.
Working Conditions
Time spent in Dining Room and Kitchen
Constant standing and walking
Exposure to extreme temperatures
Frequent bending and lifting of moderate to heavy objects
Must operate small appliances and dishwasher
Dress Policy
Must wear provided uniform at all times – Green polo shirt, tan pants.
Must wear shoes or sneakers, with socks or stockings. Hair must be pulled back while serving meals.
Appearance must be neat and clean.
As many residents are allergic or sensitive to perfume odors, Dining Room Staff are reminded not to wear perfume.
