Job description

Purpose

To assist consumers in performing the functions of daily living with as much independence as possible. Under general supervision, to guide consumers to be self-directed by teaching consumer’s decision making skills and encouraging independence as defined in each person's Personal Support/Habilitation Plan. To provide assistance in a manner that supports the personal dignity of the consumers.

Providing support services for individuals with development and physical disabilities within their own home setting.

Assist consumers in performing daily living functions such as personal hygiene, dining skills, household chores and community integration, etc.

Assist with meal preparation, teach dining skills and promote social skills and personal dignity during meals.

Ensures safe and clean living conditions at all times.

Administers medications at the appropriate time

Qualifications

  • Experience and/or demonstrated ability to manage clients with behaviors.
  • Must have the ability to perform basic math functions, write, read and comprehend what is read
  • Must have completed all required training provided by QRL ex., CPR, First Aid, Medical Administration modules and Certified Med passer.
  • A high school education or its equivalent is preferred.
  • Some previous experience in supporting/assisting those with disabilities is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Indiana driver's license and a good driving record and proof of auto insurance.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate (read, write and understand) in English.
  • Criminal history must meet or exceed company standards at time of hire and be maintained at this level.
