Queens-based non-profit social services agency serving individuals with developmental disabilities of all ages in Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan for more than 25 years is seeking IRA Direct Support Professionals both Full-time Part-time and on-call.
Job Description:
Provide direct care services to the men and women who live in the IRA, including, but not limited to, training and assistance in ADL skills, independent living skills, community inclusion skills, productivity skills and recreational activities, with an emphasis on the individual desires and needs of each individual.
Responsibilities:
- Administer medications as needed and document accurately on the Medication Administration. Record sheets (upon completion of an approved AMAP course).
- Assist individuals with ADL skills and social skills.
- Implement individual goals as scheduled and complete the data sheets accurately and fully.
- Identify, report, document and provide individual protection in the event of an occurrence, reportable or serious reportable incident or allegation of abuse.
- Uphold and protect the rights of all individuals. Maintain health and safety of all individuals.
- Foster a person –centered atmosphere conductive to the growth and development of individuals.
- Transports individuals in agency vehicle for medical appointments and recreational activities.
- Assist individuals in preparing meals or cook meals for the individuals.
- Complete all required paperwork on a timely basis and input information to Therap Electronic Health Record System.
- Assist individuals with personal grooming and hygiene.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
- NYS valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Covid-19 Vaccine card
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks, such as bending, stooping, and reaching
- Previous experience in working with the ID/ DD population or mentally ill population is preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred, but not required
- Ability to work flexible hours including mandatory overtime as needed.

Pay: $17-$19 per hour
