The Advanced Technology group at Edwards incubates and explores world-class innovations for under-served patients with Structural Heart Disease. This Director, Exploration role will drive the "where to play" and “how to win” decisions for novel disease areas, patient populations, and product modalities and will partner with teams (marketing, clinical, R&D, etc.) on strategy execution. This is a great opportunity to work in a small team to guide the next wave of innovation at Edwards and shape the global landscape of Structural Heart Disease.This is highly collaborative role will partner with other subject matter experts and cross functional teams to advance break through external innovation based on value proposition, feasibility of new therapeutic approach, and clinical evidence. This strategic role will provide clinical and technical guidance to drive the transformative innovation portfolio for the future of the organization, with the goal of transforming the standard of care for patients with structural heart disease and critical care monitoring. The Director will provide technical and clinical expertise in the identification of new and/or early-stage technologies within the Advanced Technology Business Unit.
Identify new technologies and companies that complement or enhance existing Edwards' businesses or technology portfolio
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and plan strategy, landscape, and technology assessment projects and activities with accountability for successful completion of all project deliverables
Engage and develop relationships with external partners to enable access to external technologies for strategic initiatives
Provide direction and guidance to project teams to execute technology assessment projects, initiatives and/or programs
Identify and evaluate complex technology assessment process improvements and/or course correction/alignment opportunities
Other incidental duties
Minimum requirements:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with twelve years’ experience in medical device field with five years in R & D, clinical or business development or
Master's Degree or equivalent with ten years’ experience in medical device field with five years in R & D, clinical or business development
Advanced degree preferred, MD or PhD
Preferred:
Experience working in a large manufacturing company Preferred
Additional Skills:
Proven successful project management skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related tools and systems
Excellent documentation and communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills with ability to drive achievement of objectives
Recognized as an expert in own sub-function(s) and/or area(s) within the organization with broad-based advanced knowledge within the organization
Expert understanding of related aspects of technology assessment processes and/or systems
Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control

For California, the base pay range for this position is $153,000 to $218,000 (highly experienced).
The pay for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience).
