Requisition 35643: B6 Director Network Optimization
Primary Purpose
Principal Duties
Technical Skills:
Skills and Abilities:
- Work directly with Transportation General Managers and Division Superintendents on their respective operating regions to develop operating plans, manage compliance, and enforce respective region’s plan adherence.
- Inform AVP Operations Planning and Senior Director Network Optimization on plan adherence metrics, plan modifications and territorial conditions for their respective operating region and includes detailed changes between budgeted and results for senior team.
- Work closely with the Superintendents of their respective operating regions on plan modifications by articulating what is changing and the expected outcomes.
- Collaborate with the Superintendents of their respective operating regions, NOC Directors, Commercial Planning, and Network Planning groups about NPO plan decisions.
Principal Duties
- Use expert knowledge of the network, and relationship with the Superintendent and NOC directors of their respective operating regions, to influence modeling decisions for all train types down to the local level.
- Make decisions on the region when deviations from the plan occur.
- Review, analyze, and effectively communicate metrics and data from multiple sources to Superintendent and NOC directors of their respective operating regions in order to promote an understanding of performance levels and where there are deficiencies.
- Provide AVP notice of systemic plan deviations and works with Superintendent and NOC directors of their respective operating regions to get back to plan.
- Analyze the entire Transportation network to provide innovative solutions to streamline and improve results.
- Lead design of contingency plans as required during urgent and critical service recovery operations.
Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with TYES, SIMS, OPD, OBM, OTM, LARS-Fleet sizing,ITS, ITMS and ABC.
- Comprehensive understanding of all train types, intermodal and automotive operations and service commitments, interline service agreements, and cost implications associated with each.
- Expert understanding of all operating regions down to the local level to include clean sheeting directives, crew starts, re-fueling locations and capacity constraints.

Preferred level: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Logistics, Supply Chain, Analytics, or other relevant fields
