Director of Accounting/ Controller
Job description
The Director of Accounting/Controller-
This position is responsible for all accounting functions related to real estate fund owned multifamily properties. We are a fast growing company which currently oversees management of 35 properties across 13 states with plans to add several more in the upcoming months.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage property accounting team
- Review, adjust & produce property financial statements for internal review as well as all quarterly/annual lender reporting requirements
- Manage cash for capital projects and quarterly distributions
- Oversee quarterly repair reserve escrow requisitions to lenders
- Process all intercompany transfers relating to payroll, pass through expenses and management fees to Property Management Company
- Work with CFO on providing cash flow projections to ownership on a monthly basis
- Oversee monthly property financial closings
- Review tax & insurance escrows/accruals to make sure they are up to date
- Initiate wires & sign checks at property/fund level
- Review expenses on annual budgets and upload into management software when approved
- Provide financial information as needed to acquisition team, reviewing/approving true ups with both bought and sold properties
Other
- Maintain open communication with property accounting team as well as onsite property management personnel
- Report directly to CFO and Principals of the Company
- This position will have daily interaction with property management team, accounting software team as well as 3rd party vendors.
Qualifications/Experience
Potential candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and at least 5 years of general accounting experience. Experience in real estate property accounting is preferred. In addition, the candidate should have excellent organizational, communication and time management skills. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience with Entrata or other real estate accounting software is a plus.
