Job description
This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Wenger Feeds poultry and swine feed sales activities and accountable to retain and grow sales through effective customer relationship management and execution of strategies.
What your day looks like:
Manage and coach a team of account Relationship Managers who maintain the primary customer and prospect relationships. Engage with Relationship Managers on customer activity.
Maintain a small portfolio of accounts that require additional involvement to achieve outcomes, or as special projects or issues arise in order to: o Develop an understanding of the feed industry, customers, and required relationship management activities.
Form a perspective that will assist in completing other core job functions such as the development and implementation of procedures, pricing, analysis and forming a perspective around general business activities that can only be achieved through firsthand experience.
Be accountable for the department budget from creation through execution.
Manage sales processes and procedures to increase efficiency, workflow and documentation.
Utilize technology to enhance the operation and interdepartmental understanding and connectivity with customers' needs.
Analyze and prepare management reports on market or business development opportunities as they arise.
Manage and develop pricing strategies and customer data to understand customer profitability and inform pricing and strategic decision making. This also requires collaboration with other teams.
- Experience in protein production or protein marketing to end users
- Relatable experience to the customer and producer networks which the Company does business with such as grow-out management, farm operations, or allied industry
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
- MBA or equivalent experience (preferred)
- Ability to travel to various customers and farms on primarily day trips, with occasional overnight required.
- Ability to travel by various modes of transportation included but not limited to cars and airplanes.
- Ability to travel to conferences or trade shows with occasional overnight required
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, or a combination of these for long periods of time
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related subject
- Five years of business experience, agriculture background preferred
- Proactive goal driven personality with the ability to multi-task
- A positive outlook and a proven track record of leadership
- Smart, creative and strong problem-solving skills
- Strategic thinking with the ability to understand complex issues and customer interdependencies
- Technologically savvy with experience using ERP and CRM systems
