Position Summary

The Director of Reentry Services is responsible for providing oversight of the College’s reentry programs and services, including but not limited to job placement and reentry preparation. Listed below are the primary responsibilities of this position; however, the Dean of Students and/or the President may assign other professional duties to meet the College’s needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and monitors the effectiveness of reentry and job placement programs to meet the needs of the College’s diverse student population.
  • Provides oversight to reentry staff and programs at the College’s facilities.
  • Evaluates program effectiveness annually and make recommendations to the administration as needed.
  • Works with business and industry groups to develop partnerships and pathways to employment for ISTC students.
  • Works with community agencies and non-profit organizations to develop partnership support systems for ISTC students returning to society.
  • Works with ADOC and Pardons and Paroles to coordinate an effort to implement and maintain a Prison to Workforce pipeline.
  • Uses computers to update and access students’ records.
  • Provides counseling and/or guidance for occupational and career information purposes.
  • Participates in in-service training and other continuing education activities to maintain a high level of competence and skill; maintains licensure status; as a counselor for continued employment.
  • Completes required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Must be eligible to enter all Department of Corrections (DOC) facilities to perform the job duties and maintain this status for continued employment.
  • Serves on committees as needed.
  • Possesses an understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and mission of a community and technical college.
  • Possesses a sensitivity and commitment to cultural diversity.
  • Complies with any applicable guidelines and policies set forth by the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and J.F. Ingram State Technical College.

Supplemental Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrates ability to work effectively with a variety of reentry agencies at the local and state levels,
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • Demonstrates ability to work effectively with a variety of counseling and counseling-related agencies at the state and local levels,
  • Ability to make independent judgments, solve problems, provide leadership, and work with diverse groups of people,
  • Excellent organizational skills, attentive to detail, and can prioritize multiple tasks,
  • Understand and maintain confidentially and professional integrity,
  • Willing to be flexible with work schedule as workload dictates,
  • Reliable and punctual.

Qualifications

Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university is required.

Salary Range: Salary will be determined by placement on the appropriate Alabama Community College System-approved salary schedule. C2 ($74,597 - $111,563)
