Global Director – Supply Chain Operations

Job Summary:

Our client in Auburn Hills, MI is looking for a Global Director – Supply Chain Operations. This is a contract position.

What You Will Do:

  • Set the strategy, standards and KPIs for Purchasing & Materials Operations in the plants
  • Roll-out and train the standards and KPIs (including on-going training as required)
  • Track, monitor & measure performance to KPIs and standards
  • Continuously improve
  • Build strong Purchasing & Materials teams in the plants
  • Oversee the Purchasing & Materials functions across all Martinrea Aluminum facilities
  • Establish, track, monitor and drive results for KPI’s, Corporate Standards, Policies and Procedures
  • Corporate Purchasing:

o Responsible for direct and indirect purchases for our global Aluminum Business Unit, inclusive of raw materials, purchased components, outside services, MRO, plant services and Tooling & Capital.

o Exceeds annual cost reduction targets

o Leads all facets of sourcing for large global programs affecting multiple Martinrea plants

o Assembles detailed price and cost analysis to support sourcing decisions

o Support the CAPEX request and approval process

o Negotiates terms of contract, adhering to Martinrea Policies and Procedures in conjunction with Legal

o Leads Technical and Commercial Design Competitions with cross-functional teams

o Leads commercial management of Suppliers, ensuring adherence to the contract and obtaining technical and commercial improvements to exceed the Corporate objectives

o Ensure all quoting activity includes multiple suppliers in the RFQ process to obtain pricing, availability and delivery at or below budget expectations, mirroring the requirements of our Customer’s contract

o Provide continual assessment of the business climate, market conditions, monitoring supply risk, supplier health and develop countermeasures

o Co-Manage Key Suppliers

o Lead the development of Commodity and Supplier Strategies with cross-functional participation across the Fluids Group, emphasizing opportunities for commercial benefit

o Develops strategies which maximize global synergies, reduce overall capital costs and material costs and improve throughput, quality and delivery performance.

o Support Program Management and the Technical Group with the development and advancement of our Technical Specifications. Ensure Suppliers are capable to meet or exceed those requirements.

o Enforces 100% on-time delivery requirements, 100% on-time / on-budget launches

o Maintain a positive contribution to quality, customer satisfaction and company profitability

o Represent the Company in an ethical manner, being firm, fair and professional at all times

o Maintains supplier rating system continuously evaluating supplier’s delivery and quality performance

Basics:

  • 10-15 years of direct Automotive Experience in both, the Purchasing and Materials area in a manufacturing setting
  • 5+ years of experience with Aluminum castings is highly desirable
  • Extensive understanding of MRP and ERP systems
  • Strong in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.
  • Strong negotiation and inter-personal skills, management skills, demonstrated experience in leading a team
  • Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in the Business Administration / Supply Chain Management Field
  • Languages: English fluent (written and oral) Additional knowledge of Spanish and/or German is a plus
