VOTR Director of Tournaments

Volleyball of the Rockies is a volleyball production company with various year-round programming options including:

Outdoor Grass Leagues and Tournaments
Indoor Hard-Court Leagues and Tournaments
The Island Indoor Beach Leagues and Tournaments
The Oasis Indoor Beach Leagues and Tournaments
SOB Beach Volleyball Vacations
“Major” Mountain Tournaments

· Primary Job Duties Include

The primary function of this role is to oversee all aspects of VOTR tournament programming. Including but not limited to – All Major tournaments, all Mexico tournaments/trips, and all Oasis/Island sign up tournaments.

o Managing full and part time staff (seasonal/year-round)

Including – Hiring/Training/Scheduling/Development/Planning Staff Events/Payroll

o Overseeing all aspects of tournament operations

Marketing/Registration/Payment/Scheduling/Communication/Trouble Shooting/General Programming Improvements/All aspects of day-to-day operations

o Relationship with stakeholders

-Park permitting/Facility rentals/Sponsors/Vendors

o Identifying new avenues of programming opportunities

o Management of inventory and equipment

Primary job duties represent approximately 80% of overall expectations

· Secondary Job Duties Include

o Support for all additional tournament programming* not listed in primary duties

-Including administrative and on-site support

o General administrative tasks within a shared office setting

*This position will be expected to be on-site for tournaments outside of the Denver area including major mountain tournaments (Vail, Steamboat, Snowmass, Breckenridge, Fraser) and Mexico trips (Ixtapa, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo). As well as director for tournaments at both Island/Oasis facilities.

There is a significant physical component in this position and candidates should be able to lift and carry 60-100 lbs of equipment. In the summer, we regularly carry up to 72 lbs of nets in the park. At tournaments we set and strike equipment including stereos, speakers, tents, nets, ice chests, and crates of prizes. On our Volleyball Vacations, we erect 10-25 nets on a beach in tropical heat.

Our preferred candidate will have the following qualification:
1) Bachelor’s degree in sports/events/recreation/tourism management
2) 2-5+ years’ experience in sports/recreation or events setting
3) 2-3+ years directly managing employees
4) 1+ years marketing print/email/social media
5) Knowledge in excel/photoshop/outlook

The ideal start date is April 1st. This will be a salaried position with salary range of $50,000 – $60,000 annually. Salaried VOTR staff receive 2 paid weeks of vacation annually and all major holidays. Additionally, there are 4-6 “flex” vacation days annually for worked major tournaments and Mexico trips. As a relatively small company it is cost-prohibitive to provide full medical insurance to our employees, however we do offer supplementary insurance through AFLAC. We also offer a company sponsored 401k plan and with match. Full compensation includes salary plus bonuses earned through working major events. This job is not eligible for full time remote work and is based in Denver.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
