The Director of Quality is responsible for overseeing the company quality control and quality management programs in accordance with customer and company requirements.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Manage Quality Assurance & Quality Control staff, providing leadership and direction to staff in Incoming, In-Process and Final Inspection of materials and products to assure compliance with customer and company expectations.- Develop strategy for the future quality needs of the company, reporting these needs to upper management on a regular basis.
- Responsible for continuous improvement of the QC processes.
- Collaborates with Operations on defect/scrap/rework reduction initiatives.
- Manage Quality KPIs/metrics.
- Establish and manage annual budgets for Quality Department.
- Implement, manage and maintain all aspects of the quality certification programs as required.
- Direct and coordinate the internal and external audit system.
- Report on the performance of the quality system for review.
- Act as liaison with internal and external parties on matters relating to the quality system and product quality.
- Manage Corrective and Preventive Action (CAR and PAR) programs.
- Participate and contribute on a technical basis to metrology technical issues. Metrology Calibration System, Gauge R&R, Precision capability studies, etc.
- Maintain and manage the statistical process control (SPC) system. Represent the SPC system to our customer as needed.
- Lead with others in management the Quality Management System Business Review (QMSBR) system that drive.
- Make systems to meet the company needs including writing work instruction & procedures as needed.
- Manage supplier quality.
- Interface with Customers on quality issues and audit requests.
- Evaluate and implement new inspection technology/ equipment as appropriate.
Education & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree. 10 years of quality assurance experience and 5 years leading a quality assurance/quality control department. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
