Position Summary:
The Director of the Odyssey Technical Center is responsible for the management and facilitation of a team of multi-disciplinary subject matter experts comprised of Odyssey employees’ “Fellows” from several business units serving as technical advisors of advanced technology programs for the company. The Director will develop, manage, and grow the company’s Technical Studies Efforts on informational and engineering programs and projects as well as providing technical assistance to the company’s director for capture and growth in Odyssey’s C5ISR, Medical, Aviation and Space and Missile Defense markets. The position will develop and manage internal technical strategies, processes, and will play a leadership role in helping to integrate the Business Development and Operations teams to increase revenue across new customer relationships. The Director will work closely with C5ISR, Aviation and Space and Missile Defense Systems operational leadership and report directly to the Executive Director, Capture and Business Development.
Responsibilities:
Duties include, but not limited to:
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert in program management support to classified and unclassified programs utilizing DoD acquisition processes and policies for the procurement of systems and subsystems, including life cycle management of the same.
  • Recruit, and nominate candidates for the Odyssey’s Fellow program, a team of multi-disciplinary subject matter experts comprised of Odyssey employees from several business units serving as technical advisors of advanced technology programs for the company and selected to serve by Odyssey’s Executive Leadership team.
  • Establish a studies market for Odyssey by actively soliciting new and current customers to create a viable funnel of opportunities to identify and pursue suitable project candidates.
  • Engage in capture activities, working closely with customers to define the study parameters and measures of success.
  • Identify and solicit subject matter experts from both within Odyssey and outside the company to establish a standing cadre to support study projects.
  • Employ acquisition program analysis in the areas of acquisition strategy, program planning, and control, schedule development, test phases, configuration management, risk management, contract changes, financial management, production and manufacturing, quality assurance, and logistics support as necessary for specific study efforts.
  • Apply integration, communication, coordination, organizational and planning expertise to technical and acquisition efforts across a broad spectrum of functional disciplines.
  • Assist in planning, developing, editing, and publishing acquisition document products (e.g., program documentation, plans, reports, briefings, and other presentations, as required) in the media and format requested—ensuring quality control.
  • Develop and present briefings and reports on program status/studies, findings, and/or recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Plan, organize, monitor, manage, oversee, and/or perform research and engineering activities relating to the design, development, fabrication, installation, modification, or analysis of systems or systems components.
  • Identification, establishment, organization, and implementation of acquisition engineering objectives and policies, or establishing of specifications.
  • Consult with a cross-section of the company to determine information requirements of management, scientists, or engineers, determine boundaries and priorities of new projects, and discuss system capacity and equipment acquisitions.
  • Confer with program managers and directors involved with proposed projects to ensure collaboration, coordination, and cooperation resulting in well-defined projects and statements of work.
  • Develop, manage, and grow the company’s Technical Studies Efforts on informational and engineering programs and projects.
  • Provide technical assistance to the company’s director for capture and growth in Odyssey’s C5ISR, Medical, Aviation, and Space and Missile Defense markets.
  • Develop and manage internal technical strategies, and processes, and play a leadership role in helping to integrate the Business Development and Operations teams to increase revenue across new customer relationships.
  • Work closely with operational leadership of C5ISR, Aviation and Space and Missile Defense Systems.
  • Report directly to the Executive Director, Capture and Business Development
Qualifications:
Minimum Experience:
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
Clearance : Must have and be able to maintain a Top Secret Clearance
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical Discipline. Master’s degree preferred.
Y ears’ experience: 15 years of comparable senior management experience in the delivery of technical and management services.
  • Exceptional ability to comprehend and respond to RFIs and RFPs
  • Capability to work effectively with a broad range of people with a wide variety of technical skills and experience.
  • Ability to react quickly in a rapidly changing environment, motivate and manage the team, and supporting staff.
  • Ability to assess and develop strategic plans and energize others to achieve related goals.
Operations Experience:
  • Familiarity with Air Force, Army, Navy, and Space Force C5ISR, Aviation and operational space and missile defense systems
  • Familiarity with Air Force, Army, Navy, Space Force, and MDA systems development and acquisition processes
