District Office Administrative Assistant Calendar: 260 Days Salary: based on experience Position PurposeUnder the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Schools, to provide a wide variety of complex and confidential administrative and secretarial support to the Superintendent. Essential Functions: Provide secretarial/clerical support services for school staff in accordance with District policies and administrative guidelines, Operating Standards for Ohio Schools, and the provisions of State and Federal law.Perform full range of secretarial/clerical duties for the principal and building staff as assigned.Collect necessary data, maintain records, and prepare and submit reports for District services and programs as required by the Ohio Department of Education, the United States Department of Education, and the District as assigned.Answer telephones, greet visitors, and expedite questions and requests in a courteous and diplomatic manner.Answer routine correspondence independently; process all confidential correspondence, information, and reports in an appropriate manner, as required. Operate office equipment and technology effectively and arrange for the timely maintenance and repair as needed.Maintain records as required by law, District policy, and administrative guidelines. Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, teachers, District staff, and community.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Communicate and collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, and school/District staff. Requisition and acquire material, supplies, and equipment as needed to carry out the program. Meet the professional expectations of attendance, suitable attire and decorum, participation in school and District meetings/functions, and support of District initiatives. Respond to specific requests from the Principal/District Administrator(s) on matters affecting the program and operation of the District.Additional DutiesPerforms other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the Superintendent's office and school district operations.

Qualification ProfileAny combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to: Graduation from high school.Associates degree with course work in business, word processing, office procedures and record keeping preferred.Shorthand or speed writing skills desirable.Successful experience of an increasingly responsible nature in public service, and executive administrative assistance or executive secretarial position
