The Division President (DP) is responsible for the day-to-day management of the division’s sales, construction, purchasing, and land departments in addition to the overall profit and performance of the division. The DP will also participate in our annual and long-range planning as an active member of our operational leadership team. In this unique circumstance, the DP will have the opportunity to start a new division in the greater Tampa market for an established national homebuilding company; thereby utilizing the DP’s own experience to build an operation in conjunction with the resources and support of regional and corporate team members.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Lead land acquisition, entitlement, and development efforts of new homebuilding division. This role will ultimately transfer to a division land leader but will be assumed by the DP during the division formation period
- Develop, implement, and achieve the strategic and annual operating plans for the division
- Oversee all aspects of homebuilding operation in the Division including sales, marketing, purchasing, land, construction and service
- Recruit, hire, and lead the division’s management team and staff to execute the business plan, as well as changes to operations needed to meet company specific goals (including local and company-wide objectives/initiatives)
- Continuously seek to improve quality, customer service, operational excellence and overall execution in the local market
- Monitor relevant changes in the marketplace and work to continuously position the division to take advantage of opportunities
- Develop and execute long-range strategic and tactical plans for land acquisition and future communities, based on market research and competitive data in the local market, to meet future supply/business plan goals
- Develop and maintain a trusted and capable network of external partners to ensure continuous success of the Company’s Strategic Plan, including trade partners, land brokers, etc
- Adhere to and promote the Mission, Vision and Values of Stanley Martin.
- Bachelor’s degree required
- MBA preferred, but not required
- Minimum 8 years homebuilding experience required. Experience should be in at least 2 different areas of the business (i.e., sales and production OR purchasing and finance)
- Experience in a “leader of leaders” role
- Outstanding business instincts and ability to adopt company-wide process and procedures
- Commitment to customer satisfaction and delivery of a clean and complete home
- Enthusiasm and passion for the homebuilding industry
- Ability to create excitement and clarity around business objectives and change initiatives
- Team Player who can unite different business units to work cohesively together
- Excellent Interpersonal and Relationship Building Skills
- Advanced knowledge of homebuilder software systems, Microsoft Excel, and data analytics system
