PLEASE NOTE: This position is full time and may require working Saturdays. Employee will be working at TSO Mont Belvieu and TSO Baytown office.
Experience & Requirements:
- At least 1 year optometry or medical office experience required.
- Excellent customer service & organization skills
- Must have good communication skills, both oral and written
- Strong math and computer skills
- Great, outgoing personality and willing to learn
- Knowledge about vision & medical benefits, preferred
- The following is a bonus but not required
- CPOT certified (Certified Paraoptometric Technician)
- Bilingual (Spanish) strongly preferred
Responsibilities:
- Perform chair skills, screening instruments, and case history on the patient before the doctor starts his exam.
- Run multiple diagnostic tests as needed. (Visual Field, OCT, Optomap, etc)
- Input all exam findings into the EMR, and if needed, scribe for the doctor.
- Assist patients with contact lens insertion and removal. Including on how to proper cleaning and storage contact lenses.
- Maintain a proper inventory of diagnostic contact lenses.
- Dispensing patients eyeglasses and contact lenses as per TSO standard
- Adjust eyewear to patient using appropriate tools and instruct on cleaning and handling
- Listen and respond immediately within an appropriate level of concern to all patient issues. Analyze, solve and correct patient issues according to office policies.
- Answering phones in a helpful and friendly manner. Greeting patients, making appointments and notifying patients when product is ready.
- Assist the office team in maintaining the office’s visual objective and housekeeping standards by maintaining frame board and work areas
- Perform duties in such a manner as not to jeopardize the safety and health of themselves, fellow associates, and patients
- Ensures the privacy and confidentiality as required by HIPPA and other federal and state privacy rules and regulations
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Perform any other tasks assigned by a member of management or physicians
