Eagle Ford Overview
ConocoPhillips’ acreage is located in the sweet spot of the Eagle Ford tight oil trend, located in the Western Gulf Basin of South Texas. The company was one of the first to enter the play in 2009, and by year-end 2020 held approximately 200,000 net leasehold and mineral acres, primarily in DeWitt, Karnes, and Live Oak counties. Since field inception, ConocoPhillips has produced more than 500 million barrels of oil equivalent from the field and continues to build the Eagle Ford into a legacy asset with production expected for years to come. In 2020, net production from the Eagle Ford averaged 186 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day, with about 80 percent of the production coming from liquids.
Description
If you are selected as the Drilling Supervisor you will be responsible for providing onsite supervision of development drilling operations for ConocoPhillips. This position will safely and efficiently manage rig site operations and personnel to deliver the business objectives. This position will also act as the COP safety leader for wellsite location and operations. This is a rotational position that requires travel to and from home to the work site.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Be a safety leader and define the HSE tone and expectations for the location
- Lead all operations in a manner that ensures the health and safety of all personnel and the protection of the environment
- Lead all pre-tour safety meetings and participate in all 3rd party safety meetings and JSA discussions
- Responsible for the onsite participation and implementation of all safety policies and programs
- Maintain proper well control certification and be capable of managing well control situations
- Identify/assess HSE and operational risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate same
- Ensure work plans are communicated to and understood by all affected personnel
- Ensure operations comply with all statutory, policy and program requirements
- Ensure all regulatory approvals are in place prior to any operation
- Continuously identify ways to reduce cost and improve work program effectiveness without sacrificing quality, production rates or reserves
- Communicate daily with Drilling Engineer to continuously improve well planning and execution
- Maintain direct and timely communication with the Field Drilling Superintendent / Drilling Superintendent
- Investigate, follow up and ensure all incidents relating to rig site personnel, equipment and procedures are closed out
- Monitor, evaluate and regularly report on overall performance against program and performance of the services and equipment involved in the operation
- Ensure all daily Wellview reports are submitted on time and information is complete and accurate
- Coordinate, supervise, and critique service company activities. Report opportunities for improvement and significant achievements that are specific to service company performance
- Review and recommend optimization of drilling program/procedures.
- Maintain logistics plan and communications for equipment, personnel, and services
- Maintain working knowledge of COP Standards and Recommended Practices and conduct work accordingly
Basic/Required:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as a permanent resident, refugee or asylee
- Current/ Valid Driver's License
- 5+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry
- Valid IADC Well Control Certification
- Advanced level of conducting visible HSE Leadership
- Willing and able (with or without a reasonable accommodation) to work a rotational on-call schedule
Preferred:
- 10+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry
- Knowledge of well reporting software (WellView)
- Well-developed project management skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to prioritize in a multi-faceted work environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to create an environment which fosters innovation and continuous improvement.
