Non-Exempt Reports to: Transportation Manager & Transportation Coordinator


Positions Supervised
: None Amount of Travel Required: 90%; Shawnee County


Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday 20 hrs./wk.; Work times may vary dependent upon route assigned.


Position Summary


The Driver position requires flexibility and the ability to form working relationships with clients and staff members, as well as remaining calm in stressful situations. This position requires you to operate Agency vehicles following Agency processes and procedures. Documentation of events experienced while driving the vehicle, mileage and vehicle conditions are also an essential function for this position, along with open communication with the Transportation Coordinator and Transportation Manager.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Transporting clients in agency appointed vehicles to and from campus.
  • Required to follow HIPPA processes and procedures when handling sensitive route information.
  • Operating agency vehicles in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Reporting any defects in vehicle operation, i.e., brakes, worn tires, etc., immediately to Transportation Coordinator for repair.
  • Reporting/documenting any unsafe actions or behavior that could jeopardize the safety of other passengers.
  • Maintaining driving logs and other documentation in a clear, accurate and timely manner.
  • Following agency and department policies and procedures.
  • Any other driving duties as assigned.

Education/Licensure:


  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must successfully pass the KBI, DCF and all other background investigations.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, a good driving record, current auto insurance and reliable transportation.

Experience:


  • Experience working with children and families is preferred.
  • Experience transporting children is preferred.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Community based working environment which requires a flexible schedule. Risk of exposure to aggressive and/or acting out children and youth. Children/youth often express themselves by verbal or physical acting out. Driving in inclement weather, i.e. rain, sleet, snow, etc. Lifting or carrying 50 pounds or less.
