EAC-South Program Manager

The Southern Education Foundation (SEF), located in Atlanta, GA seeks outstanding candidates to fill our Program Manager position to oversee and execute projects for the Equity Assistance Center (EAC)-South. The EAC’s are funded by the U.S. Department of Education (ED) to provide technical assistance and training, upon request, in the areas of race, sex, national origin, and religion to public school districts and

other responsible governmental agencies to promote equitable education opportunities. SEF is operating on a five-year grant to manage the EAC- South Region II, which serves 11 states; Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

The EAC-South Program Manager will manage relationships with public school districts, collecting relevant data, ensuring a series of tools and communication resources are developed and disseminated by the EAC, as required. This person will have a keen understanding of equity in K-12 environments alongside an entrepreneurial and “can-do” flair for getting things done. Specifically, the Program Manager will oversee all day-to-day operations of the EAC-South, ensuring the Center meets all deliverables, is on-time, and within budget. This includes effective management of EAC-South projects, reviewing costs, ensuring quality of the EAC deliverables, and supporting the overall execution of EAC-South’s mission. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and organized, with an ability to manage up, while anticipating center needs and streamlining processes, as needed.

This position reports to the EAC- South Director.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops, modifies, or provides input to project plans, as outlined in the EAC’s cooperative agreement and/or annual Technical Assistance Plan (TA).

Coordinates and integrates project activities as identified by SEF leadership and ED.

Supports and suggests process related improvements (e.g., quality assurance measures) to the TA Lead and EAC Leadership on various projects, as needed.

Sets up project documentation and platforms to capture documents, and writes all meeting notes.

Supports the planning, implementation, and facilitation of EAC leadership meetings to ensure all required attendees are at meetings and update attendees who cannot attend with the information that would be important for them.

Set up and maintain master contact list on Smartsheet with information about our partners, potential clients (for outreach purposes) and other federally funded TA support teams.

Supports the project and communications teams in making available any materials (on occasion on very short notice) that might need to be shared with the EAC-South Director and/or ED.

Assists the TA Lead with quality assurance processes for each EAC-South project.

Assists the EAC-South Director with improvements, solving problems, or taking corrective action when EAC-South problems arise.

Utilizing appropriate contract staffing to quickly satisfy any staffing needs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Excellent oral and written communication skills, cultivating trusting relationships with district partners. The Program Manager will help shape a collaborative approach to problem solving with districts.

This program will have lots of moving parts. The Program Manager needs to have a vision for how complex projects come together, comfort in managing complex projects, and flexibility when things do not go as planned.

Keen ability to organize and prioritize workload.

General knowledge of federal government requirements in conducting Program Management Reviews (PMRs), status meetings, and reporting financial data for federal grants.

Proficiency in Smartsheet, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Dropbox, federal grants tracking and management software/systems, and other applicable technology.

Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills to address audiences of different experience levels.,

Attention to detail, and a deep commitment to relationship-building across diverse communities and geographies.

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s degree is preferred

Compensation is $75,000-$85,000 with a competitive benefits package.
This is a five year grant-funded position the grant renewable annually after approval from the ED.
