Mission Statement: The mission of the Fayette County Early Learning Center is to EMPOWER the children and families of Fayette County through education, motivation, provision of opportunity, wellness, encouragement, and respect.

Position Summary: The Education Support Coach is a full-time 40 hour per week position, 52 weeks a year. The responsibility of this position is to be a presence in EHS partner sites, provided coaching for teachers and home visitors as assigned. Communicates clearly and provides consistent feedback with partnership site admins and EHS Coordinator.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains positive, supportive relationships with home visiting staff, teaching staff and partnership admins for the purpose of supporting staff growth through the mentoring process.
  • Develops and maintains schedules for home visits and classroom observation for the purpose of determining training needs.
  • Utilizes a researched based coaching cycle. Components for the purpose of assessing needs, engaging in focused observations, and providing reflection and feedback in order to set goals and develop training plans.
  • Utilizes observation tools to assess the interactions provided by home visitors and teaching staff.
  • Provides constructive feedback and support for the purpose of increasing home visitor and teacher confidence and competence. This may include modeling, co-teaching, observing, providing reading materials or other resources as needed.
  • Provides follow up support to staff following any form of training for the purpose of increasing implementation of information and transfer of skill into practice.
  • Gathers and records information about implementation of practices for the purpose of summarizing and displaying data.
  • Participates in initial and on-going professional development for the purpose of providing effective mentor/coach activities as well as provide expertise on theory and practices that support child development.

· Communicates with partnership site administration and Early Head Start Education Coordinator ensuring compliance regarding state and national guidelines.

  • Assist Early Head Start Education Coordinator with various educational related training.

Qualifications, education, and/or experience:
The following qualifications represent the training education, certifications, licensures, and/or work experience required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities successfully.

Education:

  • Minimum of BA in ECE or related field.
  • Preferred Knowledge of Growing Great Kids Curriculum
  • Preferred Knowledge of Teaching Strategies Gold, Teaching Strategies Gold Assessment and Fidelity Tools

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all families, and staff.
  • Preferred Knowledge of ODJFS licensure
  • Preferred Knowledge of Ohio Early Learning Development standards
  • Preferred Experience lesson plan writing
  • Preferred Experience with Ohio’s Setp Up To Quality guidelines
  • General computer knowledge: Microsoft Office, some Excel

Additional Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to pass BCI/FBI Criminal Record Check
  • Ability to pass a Sex Offender Registry Check
  • Ability to pass the Child Abuse and Neglect State Registry Check
  • Pass random drug/alcohol test

Certificates, Licenses, Equipment:

Equipment Use: Must be able to use a 3-line rollover phone system with voicemail, 10-key calculator, copy machine, facsimile, computer with ink jet and/or laser printer, iPad.

Certificates: Be or become a state of Ohio approved trainer for educational areas including: TSG, Lesson Planning, Conscious Discipline, Practice Based Coaching. Obtain and maintain in-service training including Child Abuse/Neglect Recognition and Reporting, Communicable Disease and First Aid.

Organizational Relationships/Authority: NA

Physical Requirements: Requires standing, bending, reaching, sitting and working with preschoolers and office equipment such as a computer, telephone, adding machine, phone, etc. Must be able to pass initial TB test and day care physical. Must be able to lift 40 pounds occasionally and have the emotional control to withstand child, parent and staff demands.

Work Environment: Majority of time spent in a typical child care setting, which may result in exposure to communicable disease. This is a full-time position.

Occupational Health and Safety:

  • Responsible for compliance with workplace policies and procedures for risk identification, risk assessment, and risk control.
  • Responsible for active participation in activities associated with the management of workplace health and safety.
  • Identification and reporting of health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries and property damage at the workplace.
  • Correct utilization of appropriate personal protective equipment if required by employment.
