    The Education Supervisor – Head Start coordinates the effective implementation of the Education Service Area of the program.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, plus CDA.
    • Early education teaching experience.
    • Provide own transportation and be able to work flexible hours.
    • Bilingual/Spanish speaking preferred
    • Ability to work with and relate to young children and families with diverse backgrounds.
    • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the unique challenges faced by families living in poverty.
    • Knowledge of and ability to utilize community resources.
    • Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, the Child Abuse Registry and PDE FBI.
    • Excellent organization and time management skills with ability to prioritize and manage workload and deadlines.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
    • Ability to perform administrative tasks (establishing objectives, organizing, and mobilizing staff to implement plans, planning ability, evaluation skills).
    • Ability to collaborate with other social service professionals, agencies, and staff.
    • Ability to work flexible hours and travel when necessary.
    • Be able to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and families on a regular basis
    • Good communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
    • Ability to read, write, and communicate instructions.
    • Ability to train and provide presentations to large and small groups.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Oversee designated Head Start preschool Centers/Classrooms which include monthly observation of classrooms, annual evaluations, planning of professional development, review of classroom documentation, data collection and analytics, conferencing and direct supervision of the following positions: Lead Teachers, Assistant Teachers, Aides and Classroom Substitutes.
    • Support and monitor the implementation of selected curricula, and all related child development services in Head Start programming, that ensures compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
    • Ensure compliance with all Head Start regulations and criteria.
    • Ensure full implementation to fidelity of Creative Curriculum, supplemental curricula, as well as Teaching Strategies Gold Child Assessment System.
    • Maintain CLASS certification and complete CLASS observations.
    • Present reports to the Policy Council and the Governing Board.
    • Coordinate and assist centers in purchasing and procuring classroom equipment and supplies.
    • Participate in the child selection and enrollment process.
    • Participate in all Inclusion related services i.e. completion of referral packets, tracking referral status, following up with case managers, assist in developing strategies to assist teachers in the classroom, participate in IEP and team meetings, participate in Child Study meeting.
    • Monitor, track, and submit all Behavior Incident Reports, Center related reports, and other reports
    • Represent and support the Head Start Program through collaboration with LEAs and other community agencies and professional organizations.
    • Provide training on child development and related topics to parent and community groups, as requested and work closely with the HS Program Coach to align professional development efforts.
    • Support effective communication within teaching teams and between sites as well as mediate communication when necessary including family with communication.
    • Assist in completing annual HS grant application and other funding opportunities that support improved early education services.
    • Participate in child file reviews, as scheduled.
    • Review and revise forms, program operating plan, policies and procedures and Parent Handbook in collaboration with Supervisors/Coordinators at a minimum annually.
    • Attend all meetings and/or conferences as assigned (community, state, regional, and national).
    • Attend parent meetings and make home visits as needed to provide services and information to Head Start families. Work closely with the Family Engagement Workers to support staff in using the Whole-Family approach.
    • Keep appropriate case records of families and children in the program.
    • Implement the Education Service Area of the program as prescribed in the Performance Standards.
    • Provide classroom coverage when needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    The new Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS) require vaccination against COVID-19 for all staff working directly with children. The HSPPS require these individuals to be vaccinated by January 31, 2022. This means staff must have their second dose in a two-dose series or first in a single-dose series by January 31, 2022. Head Start programs may allow exemptions to the vaccination requirement for those who cannot be vaccinated due to medical conditions or religious beliefs, practices, or observances. For those granted a vaccine exemption, there will be a weekly testing requirement. Without an approved vaccine exemption, there is no option for testing in lieu of receiving the vaccine.     Work Schedule
    Monday-Friday, 7.0 hours/day, 261 days/year

    Salary:
    $59,704/year - $68,948/year

    The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit Head Start program has classrooms located throughout Montgomery County, PA.
