Educational Technician III - Special Education - (DLC)(Kennebunk Elementary School)As an Educational Technician III, you will work under the direction of the special education teaching staff to implement the Individual Education Plan(s) for students in special education programs. Experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities, knowledge of positive behavior supports and assisting students with daily living skills. Dedicated to meeting the academic and social needs of each student. Qualifications: Love what you do, working with students and supporting teachers to achieve goals and objectives for each individual student.

Must meet Maine Educational Technician III requirements and preferably coursework in education and experience working with children, experience working with children with disabilities preferred. Must demonstrate the ability to work as part of a collaborative team. Strong skills in communication, organization and interpersonal relations. Must have flexibility, and creative problem-solving ability.

Preferably, have knowledge of the curriculum appropriate to job assignment. Reports to: Special Education Teacher, Building Principal, and Director of Special Services Location: Kennebunk Elementary School Responsibilities: Student Centered Work 1:1 or with small groups of students to implement goals/objectives of the Individual Education Programs Work 1:1 or with small groups of students on academic, vocational, daily living, and/or study skills Implement behavior management programs of students as needed. Work with special education students in regular classroom environments, i.e., classroom, cafeteria, playground, special classes, field trips, etc. Provide physical support to aid students with mobility and personal hygiene tasks as needed.

Work with special education student(s) to enhance social interactions with staff and peers. Assist special education student(s) in riding the bus to/from school if needed. Monitor and maintain students safety and comfort; assist in the event of medical emergencies. Assist students in learning to use adaptive equipment, and the computer.

Teamwork Work with special education teacher to modify materials, instruction, and testing for students in regular education classes Introduce new learning pre-planned in consultation with the teacher Work with related service providers (i.e. Speech, O.T., P.T., Social Worker) to implement recommendations. Assist special education and regular education staff in the evaluation of student progress. Assist with clerical duties as directed by the special education teacher Leadership Perform short term instruction in small classes or in community- based programs with indirect supervision Review and reinforce previously introduced materials Provide classroom management functions Participate/attend meetings as requested by supervisor(s).

Participate in ongoing in-service training provided through the district to improve knowledge and skills needed to perform job responsibilities. Assume other appropriate responsibilities assigned by the supervising special education teacher or administrator.
