POSITION TITLE: Educator

DEPARTMENT: Value Based Care

REPORTS TO: Manager – Healthcare IT Support & Education

LOCATION: 3355 Glendale Ave., Third Floor/Toledo Clinic Offices

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1)
The Value Based Care Educator provides direct customer-facing education
and support to meet the comprehensive needs of the healthcare staff and
patients in a safe, caring and professional manner. He/She works
collaboratively, consults, communicates, plans, implements and evaluates
educational and other support activities with members of the UTMC/UTP community
in support of providers, staff and students.
2)
This position is directly responsible for the education and support of
healthcare applications for physicians, nurses, clinical staff and students
(medical, nursing and residents). The position will focus on provider and staff
education to ensure proper ordering and monitoring of controlled substance
prescriptions.
3)
This position will function within the IT Education staff with
responsibilities to plan, organize, implement and evaluate training activities
including at-the-elbow support, in-service and classroom-based sessions to
support clinicians in all UTP/UTMC clinical settings including Ambulatory
(clinics), Emergency Department, Inpatient Acute Care (hospital) and Ancillary
departments.
4)
Responsible for creating and implementing training programs,
collaborating in the facilitation of departmental orientation, competency
validation, in-service and continuing education for key healthcare applications
education
5)
Assists with development and improvement of training process and
techniques.
6)
Presents training and/or education sessions using teaching methods to
facilitate learning.
7)
Participates in customer-facing knowledge sharing sessions with
clinicians.
8)
Strives to remain competent in healthcare applications.
9)
Recommends configuration changes and system additions to optimize
performance.
10)
Identifies process gaps and provides solutions that improve quality of
service.
11)
Develops and uses various teaching methods to facilitate healthcare
applications learning.
12)
Participates as a member of the Healthcare IT team.
13)
Shares in the responsibility for healthcare applications education
management and its planning, implementation, evaluation and decision-making.
14)
This position involves minimal travel, but may include local travel to
our service locations as well as travel for meetings, education and training
purposes.

EDUCATION:
Education/experience/licensing.
Bachelor's degree in any field in Healthcare,
Business, and Education, Curriculum & Instruction or equivalent is
required.
Experience working in a healthcare
environment and/or providing quality improvement activities including
education/training.
Prior experience providing application
support may be accepted in lieu of clinical background.
Preference will be given to applicants with
experience in a Behavioral Health setting.
