Description
To serve as an experienced, individual contributor on Environmental, Health and/or Safety (EHS) projects and assignments that are complex in nature and that support and enhance Caterpillar facility performance and compliance.
What You’ll Do
Success factors for this position are strong communication skills, an understanding of customers’ needs and process application, and ability to manage priorities. Major challenges facing incumbents are keeping up to date with technology and evolving regulations, developing increased technical breadth and/or depth of one’s own specialty, being very innovative yet able to convert concepts to reality, beginning to think strategically, and paying attention to business needs. Responsibilities of this position demand that the incumbent understand complex technical problems and demonstrate the ability to develop creative solutions. Technical leadership skills are essential. Though the focus of the job is technical contribution, project management skills may be required.
Representative Activities:
- Process owner for the strategic development, integration, and overall architecture of enterprise EHS systems and datasets such as safety stats, environmental metrics, facility profiles, competency data, assessment data and enterprise EHS standards and sustainability/ESG goals.
- Collaborates closely with process partners who oversee enterprise sustainability goals, safety metrics, environmental metrics, assessment data, facility profile data, and competency data to develop powerful dashboards that drive strategic action. This work requires a good understanding of Office 365 tools such as SharePoint, Power Bi, Power Apps and data analytic techniques.
- Develops and implements EHS and sustainability dashboards, including validation and accuracy processes.
- Supports EHS compliance programs requiring a strong working knowledge of EHS regulations and understanding of the Caterpillar EHS Assurance Manual.
- Works with divisions and facilities to ensure EHS dashboards drive division and facility action in support of the enterprise EHS strategy.
- Contributes to successful project completion on projects assigned to lead or as a team member.
- Studies and recommends unique solutions to specific problem areas.
- Maintains a working knowledge of current EHS regulations.
- Leads EHS data analytic initiatives to support execution of the EHS sustainability strategy for operations
Who You Are
- A degree in an appropriate scientific discipline is highly desired and consideration will be given to equivalent EHS experience
- 7 to 10 years of EHS experience and have an extensive understanding of complex EHS concepts and regulations.
- Working knowledge of Office 365 tools such as SharePoint and Power BI are essential
- Technical leadership skills
- Analytical skills
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well as employees in other units, customers and suppliers.
