Southwest Cheese is the world’s largest manufacturer of cheese/whey products and is located in Clovis, New Mexico. It is a joint venture between Glanbia and The Greater Southwest Agency and provides ample opportunity for career growth and experience in a fast-paced, high-performing enterprise.
Job Summary
This position will be responsible for the functional control and oversight of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) and ISO 45001 Safety Management System (SMS) that will be put in place in 2022. These management systems will strengthen the foundation on which Southwest Cheese operates under its EHS principles and provide an environment that promotes a strong Environmental, Health, and Safety culture.
Essential Functions
Maintain the Environmental and Safety management systems and their respective documents and files.
Compile and maintain records for use in EHS administration.
Ability to work within computer databases to organize multiple reporting functions within each management system and track progress.
Assist with statistical analysis and review functions associated with SWC documentation standards.
Follow records retention, archiving, destruction, and deleting documents per Glanbia/SWC Policy.
Ensure that records identified for long-term storage have been audited for accuracy and completeness before being archived.
Ability to participate in multiple levels of audits, both internal and external, including regulatory agencies, while maintaining a high degree of professionalism.
Assist Managers from all departments in understanding assigned audit findings and transferring them into the appropriate action register to assist in tracking and capturing corrective actions.
Work directly with SWC Management to capture standardized procedure revisions, policy updates, reporting metrics, and all applicable management system changes.
Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses, and upholds the culture of Southwest Cheese non-negotiables.

Qualifications
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); and a minimum of 3 years related experience and training; or a combination of education and experience.
Ability to stay positive and calm in challenging and trying circumstances.
Ability to read and interpret safety, environmental, operations, and maintenance documents and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Must be proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook.
Experience with Intelex is a plus.
Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision-making ability without oversight/approval. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Proficient personal computer skills, including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to the supervisor and Human Resources
Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Typical Physical Activity Physical Demands
Regularly involves sitting, talking, listening, and using hands and fingers.
Occasionally standing and walking.
Frequently involves reaching with hands and arms and stooping or kneeling. Physical Requirements Must lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds. Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and works with the fingers. Involves sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities primarily administratively. Should be able to identify and distinguish colors, focus on objects, and see at 20 inches or less.
Typical Environmental Conditions
May be exposed to moderate noise levels (i.e., office equipment or light traffic).
Travel Requirements Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and air.
