Job description
The Office of the CTO Engineering Design team is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Attleboro, Massachusetts to support development and integration of our Insulation Monitoring product for use in high voltage DC applications, including electric vehicles and charging systems. Reporting to a Chief Engineer and working within a cross-functional team, the electrical design engineer will work with customers and internal designers to integrate, customize, and further develop the insulation monitor product for a variety of applications. The successful candidate will leverage an understanding of electrical systems coupled with strong communication skills to collaborate technically with customers, identify, and ultimately implement solutions that support customer and business goals.

Experience / Qualifications
- Key participant in creating designs within inter-disciplinary teams to address complex product design and manufacturing challenges
- Collaborates on feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs
- Organizes development testing, engineering analysis, qualification testing, production launch
- Key participant in failure analysis investigations and engineering evaluations
- Maintains product documentation (drawings and specifications) and lessons including; producing design reports, test reports, operating manuals and test procedures
- Collaborates with senior engineers/managers to engage with customers in soliciting product specifications requirements, schedule expectations and budget
Experience / Qualifications
- A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
- Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

Leads the electrical definition, design, verification, and documentation for product development from cradle to grave

Leads the development of electrical architecture, including circuit schematic design, component selection, simulation, firmware development and configuration

Leads development and execution of test methods to evaluate product function and electrical robustness, as well as associated data analysis/conditioning, performance evaluation, documentation, and communication with customers.

Advises on and executes new product designs for new applications as well as for derivatives of existing products to new applications.

Coordinates all product electrical functional and test requirements, translating customer application requirements into electrical design requirements, assessing feasibility and risk, and identifying mitigating actions

Influences product designs early in development to mitigate application risks and ensure design best practices are followed

Works with internal teams and component suppliers to ensure that all components of the design will meet specifications over the product life

Collaborates with global project teams to successfully launch new products

Responsible for reviewing designs and conducting electrical qualification testing (e.g. Electromagnetic Compatibility, Electrostatic Discharge, Electrical Robustness, etc)

Proficient with SPICE electrical simulation (LTSpice, ORCAD, etc, or similar)

Proficient with typical laboratory tools (Oscilloscope, Data Acquisition, Spectrum Analyzer, etc)

Experience working in automotive product or high voltage system development highly desired

Experience developing firmware for embedded/microcontroller-based applications is a plus, but not required

Experience working on Functional Safety products or with Functional Safety standard (ISO 26262) tools and methods (e.g. FMEDA, DIA) is a plus, but not required
