ELECTRICAL DESIGNER

Linwood Engineering is a growing full-service MEP firm in Southern California. JOB DUTIES

  • Plan, design and specify electrical power and control systems for buildings and facilities.
  • Perform calculations of lighting systems and associated controls for assigned projects.
  • Provide design, including all electrical calculations, equipment sizing, system layout, and performance specifications for lighting, lighting controls, power, and low voltage systems.
  • Support project requirements including basis-of design narratives, cost estimates, drawing documentation, systems design, and technical specifications.
  • Research, prepare, then present coordinated design options.
  • Review drawings and research code issues to comply with city, state, and county regulations.
  • Ensure outputs meet the required standards and meet agreed deadlines.
  • Interface with code officials and contractors.
  • Review and train subordinate staff.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-3 years consulting experience – Experience should be in a variety of projects, such as but not limited to, commercial, mid-rise multi-family, retail, hospitality, healthcare, government, and education projects.
  • Degree in a related field such as mechanical, electrical, or similar.
  • Strong engineering background and understanding of Electrical system applications in buildings and facilities.
  • Ability to perform complex electrical building design.
  • Experience with Project Management. Ability to understand Client’s desired outcome as it relates to budget and timing and drive designs communicating those deliverables within the team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience maintaining successful client relationships.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills with ability to lead multiple-discipline project teams.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) a plus

PREREQUISITES:

  • Proficiency in both Revit and AutoCAD
  • Software to perform complex calculations (such as EnergyPro, Visual, AGi).
  • Office software proficiency (such as Bluebeam, MS Office-Teams/Outlook/Word/Excel).
  • Proficiency with NEC and California Building and Electrical Codes and Standards.
  • Proficiency with Title 24 energy compliance.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) required (PE is a plus).
