The organization is seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector I to be located on projects in Iowa.
The Quality Control (QC) Inspector I supports the Quality Control Department by ensuring construction activities meet project specific standards and specifications. This position will report to the Quality Control Manager.
What You’ll Do Everyday:
- Read and understand plans and specifications. Visualize two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
- Perform and document testing and measurements
- Develop, maintain and inspect reports, logs and records
- Document and reject work not conforming to plans and specifications
- Assist with issuing non-conformance reports and updating the non-conformance log
- Develop field observation reports
- Develop and walk-down testing packages
- Understand and implement lockout/tagout procedures in safe manner.
- Facilitate Quality Implementation walk a rounds and participate in weekly construction meetings to review status of quality.
- Ensure that tests are performed at the correct time and that test results are received and interpreted timely so that impacts due to failures are minimized.
- Provide training to supervision and crafts regarding the project specific quality process and requirements.
- Be involved in and provide QA/QC input to task planning.
- Coordinate system turnover activities with start up/commissioning teams.
- Review/approve (initial/date) all 3rd party test results for compliance with project requirements.
- Ensure that Quality Improvement Reports are filled out and logged and that the cost of rework is tracked and summarized monthly
- Other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For:
- Education: Industry-related college degree is required; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience: A minimum of five (5) years’ construction experience is required. Candidate should have at least three (3) years' experience in a Quality Control position. Experience in a fast-paced business environment is helpful.
- Skills: A qualified candidate must be a self-starter with organizational, and leadership skills. Must have working knowledge of various crafts and their associated special processes, inspection, and testing techniques. Must have working knowledge of construction industry codes (ACI, AWS, ASME, NEC, etc.) Any certifications from AWS, ACI, ICBO, ASNT, NACE, API etc. are helpful.
- Technology: Proficiency in basic computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and Outlook. Employee should have the ability to learn other specific software (JDE, Procore, Bluebeam, Asta, etc.).
