Job Description Summary
Printpack is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Electronic Technician. This position is located in Newport News, VA. The shift is M-F and reports to the Maintenance Manager.
The job responsibilities of the Electronic Technician include but are not limited to:
- Diagnosing and replacing malfunctioning apparatus such as drives and servos (B&R Siemens, Control Techniques, SEW), PLC’s (Rockwell, Siemens, B&R), transformers, motors, and replacing damaged or broken wires and cables.
- Adjusting, calibrating, aligning, and modifying circuitry and components as needed for proper performance of production equipment.
- Calibration, maintenance and repair of (Cognex & Dr. Schenk) Vision systems.
- Primary support and maintenance of online gauging systems (Honeywell & Thermofisher) with tech support from OEM’S.
- Responsible for regularly backing up of critical manufacturing equipment programs (HMI’s, PLC’s, drives, servos).
- Support daily operations.
- Support escalated calls from maintenance electricians.
- Projects related to machine upgrades/continuous improvement.
- Training for maintenance associates related to current equipment and upgrades to said equipment.
- Support engineering projects from inception.
- Fully comply with all safety, environmental, and regulatory.
- Foster an environment of associate engagement where individual associates are valued and are empowered to improve their work.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED
- 3-5 years experience troubleshooting and using computers to interface with drives, PLC’s, and HMI’s/EOI’S
- 3-5 years experience modifying HMI’s/EOI’s application programs
- Modify machinery logic systems (PLC's and PC based) to improve process or add features to equipment
- Familiarity with connecting PLC to a plant network LAN or OT network
- Proficient at troubleshooting discrete motor & power control circuits, AC drive systems, analog & digital DC drive systems, servo motors & drives, stepping motors & drives, electrical/electronic systems, PLCs, and communications
- Proven experienced with Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk SE/Historian, and controls component upgrade installation, troubleshooting, repair. Additional experience maintaining electrical and electronic equipment, including motor relays, circuit breakers, machine and process controls, circuits, and electrical distribution systems
- NEC (NFPA 70) experience
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics/drawings
- Proficient with basic Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to respond to calls during off shifts (nights and weekends)
- Excellent time and project management skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple priorities
- Ability to prioritize and balance workload
- Positive attitude and ability to easily adapt to varying work challenges
- Able to write and communicate effectively with ability to train others, especially electrical personnel
- Acquire/requisition spare parts related to power distribution and all electrical and electronic systems
- Work outside the electronic/electrical area is expected when capable or when assisting another associate
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Proficient in computerized maintenance software (CMMS)
- Demonstrate knowledge of plant and process safety rules, safe operating methods, and good housekeeping standards
- Multi-crafted and competent in hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical repairs
Preferred Qualifications:
- ASS or AS degree
- Experience with B&R, Rockwell and Siemens platforms
- Experience with Servos
- Experience with HMI’s
- NFPA 70E experience
- Experience with Plant LAN/OT Network
- Read and understand mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings
- Extrusion and/or Thermoforming controls experience
- Proficient with Microsoft & Google software
- Make electrical modifications and upgrades to current equipment and installation of new equipment with the ability to run conduit and size wiring
- ET certification
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.19 - $40.79 per hour
